Re: Since when is switching to the WR.DB closes to the ball not sim.

"SIM" is a made up term to make people feel good about how they play football when they are playing Madden. It doesn't actually MEAN ANYTHING.

Case in point... Some people don't think it's SIM to use motion. It has nothing to do with what happens in the NFL. The NFL uses plenty of motion. It has everything to do with their skill level and ability to deal with concepts that simulate the NFL. The more often you see someone post about the AI being the reason something is/isn't "SIM" the more likely they are to be beaten by players that actually simulate NFL style play.

In the broadest sense of the game, switching to a different defender is NOT a simulation ability. Real people can't possess the bodies of others. But on the flip side of that same coin, every play in the NFL is a USER PLAY. The difference is that there are 22 different users on the field at a time in real life, while Madden only allows up to 6.

To strike a balance and allow every play to be a USER play, video games must allow us to 'switch'

The reason we're still debating this 9 years after online play began is because some people don't want to control ANYTHING while others want to control EVERYTHING. Then they beat their chest about how "SIM" they are and point fingers at how others aren't...

Switching is SIM and not SIM at the same time... Not that it matters. Moot point. No sense in debating it. It's not the type of argument practical players would engage in.

"Sim" has become a bad dirty word on OS that is made fun of everyday on this website. My how the world has changed.

I guess next year, "Hyperbole" would be the word that gets made fun of on here too.

SMH at the "No Skills" comments.
It had more to do with the rocket catches thad made user catching waaay to easy.
VS CPU it's abuse as the CPU doesn't combat the player switching and the bursting to the ball. User vs user it's not that big of a problem any longer and is just a user preference.

Also a lot of people like the "coaching" aspect and want the players ratings to matter more than the "Stick Skills". So again it's user preference and yes the term "Sim" has been way overdone just like the "game is broken" comments.

after playing a guy who picked the Falcons and would drop back 15 yards, throw a bomb pass, and proceed to do a jumping over the head grab on DBs repeatedly I have to say that sometimes it's pretty ridiculous.

First of all what Defense were you using, and secondly you must be really bad at defense when you allow that. YOu should have blitzed him and there would have been no way he would have time to drop back 15 yards and bomb it down field. NO WAY!

Stop making excuses for poor game mechanics.

First I have heard of this.

I always try to user int, and have never had anyone complain about it. i usually dont try to user catch with WRs though.. im so horrible at it, i usually just let the CPU do it. sometimes i go for it on streaks though. lol
