Interesting piece on the whole MLB 2K mess and some of the other positives that it created
Sorry, married, three kids, one in college, = no disposable income.

Doesn't work for everyone.

This is one of the reasons I wish games were still on the PC. Didn't have to buy a couple of consoles and a PC. I could just buy a PC. Which I use everyday for work and other things anyways. That and game are more customizable on the PC.

Agree with this immensely.

Me too and I do appreciate the sentiment...although, no longer married (best weight I ever lost)....

What I think I think:
• Y'know, I've never played less NBA 2K than I did with NBA 2K12
• Sports VG titles were REALLY disappointing in 2011-12
• Thank Heaven for ME3 and Arkham City -- saved my winter

Married with two kids here... I have been saving up for probably five years to buy myself a PS3 for the sole purpose of playing The Show... and dammit if something doesn't come up every single time I go to get one... Car needs brakes, water heater blows up, bathtub starts leaking, wife gets pregnant... it's always something.

I might be slightly exaggerating, I'm not totally broke... could probably buy one without sending my kids to school barefoot... but it's the principle of the thing.. buying a console for literally one title. Only reason I have a 360 is because a friend sold me his old one for $50 when he upgraded to the elite 200GB hard drive special edition Batman Halo model that does your taxes while you play Gears of War or whatever...

From what has been said by the head of 2K, it sounds like he doesn't even want to make sports games because of the licensing costs. I mean hell they are getting out of baseball and they have no competition on the Xbox or Wii.

I've read that he wants 2K to move on to wholly owned IP's so they can make more money.

I have a feeling that when NBA live gets going and starts to take sales away from NBA2K, they will eventually pull out of all sports. So, even if the EA doesn't extend the license, I don't think NFL2k will ever come back.

Then I saw an arcade version of Tecmo Bowl. After that, I was hooked. Tecmo Bowl then made games on Nintendo for years. It was basically the football game everyone played. People didn't play Madden back in the days like they do now. EA was barely on the come up.

Tecmo started slowing down around 95 after Super Tecmo Bowl or something of that nature. EA then started becoming big creating a new sim type game. Games like Gameday, NFL Fever, couldn't even compete.

But 2k came along and EA finally found it's competition. It was as if EA had a flashback, this time EA being Tecmo and 2k being the EA on the come up. EA knew they had to do something.

Unfortunately, their time is running out. It's the evolution of sports games. It happens everytime. It's inevitable another gaming company will do that much better leaving EA exhausted and giving up.

It's what it is.
Actually, I felt that one or 2 of those Gameday versions was actually pretty good. I don't remember what years, but I know there were a few years that I thought Gameday was pretty decent. I don't know if it sold better than Madden or anything because I didn't care about stuff like that back then, but there were a few years where I felt Gameday held it's on.

Man, how I miss the good ole days, when in any given year you had 3 to 5 choices for football gaming. They weren't all good, but there were choices damnit!!! lol

Yeah man, I remember those good ole days lol. I think that one version of Gameday with Eddie George on the cover was pretty good. Remember those epic stiff arms as you made your way up the sideline lol... really missing those days
