It's correct and incorrect.

The deal expired in 2012 but because of the lockout it was extended a year.

The exclusive deal with the NFL expires on midnight of the night of the Superbowl.

NFLPA and all.

I really hope the exclusive deal is canceled at midnight after the Superbowl .

Re: EA-NFL Exclusive License

I 2k really that good, or is just one of those (many) things where everyone acts like it was better when it really wasn't?

I would love some competition for a football game, but honestly I don't see anyone beating EA their first year.. Please prove me wrong though, no seriously do it.

Re: EA-NFL Exclusive License

I don't think it's so much about 2k being amazing, it's more about everyone being fed up with EA.

Oh you don't have to tell me about being fed up with EA lol, trust me.

I just hear the "bring back 2k, it was so much better" thing a lot. Never played it personally.

You have a solid point. Everyone talks about 2k5 football but honestly I preferred Madden 05. I don't know if it was that 2k5 went away or that Madden moved to next gen or both but ever since the game has never been the same IMO. I always thought the next gen version felt more arcade than sim.

Re: EA-NFL Exclusive License

As far as 2K goes: it had it's hiccups(CPU drafting being the biggest one), but the on-the-field game was the best I've ever seen. I still go back and play it to this day. For a 10 year old game, the graphics are surprisingly not terrible.

The on the field had issues as well, but they could all be fixed with sliders relatively easy. I struggle to play games of Madden against people, because all you have to do is drop back 15 yards and hit a flat receiver on the side you dropped to and it's an instant 10-15 yard pickup. This has been an issue in this game for 15 years!

The depth chart editing was also 20x better than this one. You could edit it by formation. There were just so many things that that game got perfect. Not right, perfect. The presentation, the gameplanning, the passing & running mechanics, and just the gameplay in general.

It would be great to have both NFL 2k and Madden back, push each other.
