You can do a lot with the "same" engine. Would you say Half-Life was exactly the same as every other game built on the Quake 2 engine? Not unless you were weird ... or confused.

I haven't played enough of both to really say, but I will say I have issues with the recovery speed of defenders in coverage in NCAA 2004, something that wasn't as obviously broken in previous Tiburon football games. And if you believe Terry Crouch (I sure do), then you believe Madden does a better job of implementing tough D without too many hacks and speed cheats.

The fact that they are so different in this regard alond DESPITE being based on the same engine is exactly why this question is relevant.

Oh yea To me NCAA 04 was better but this year Madden is better.

I completed 6 passes with Steve McNair on one drive in Madden, and went 15-20 350yds in the game which ran smooth as silk on my 53in WS HDTV. In NCAA with CJ Leak (88 ovr) I completed one pass on a drive and went 2-15 for 45yds in a game which resembled slow-motion on my 53 in WS HDTV. Which game do you think I like better?

hmmmm, great question. maddens polish is sick, with the new animations and all. but i think right now i've gotta say ncaa for me. the realistic reciever skills in ncaa put it over the top for me. after playing ncaa i almost feel guilty with some of the passes you get away with on maddens. but i only play against other humans (2 minutes of playing a computer a.i. bores me to death) so i'm not sure if one is better than the other when playing solo.

by the way o.s., may i be candid? why is this troll still allowed to post in the madden forum? there must be something i'm missing. now, i own both espn and maden. now, since i think maddens is a better game am i allowed to cruise the espn boards and mercilously bash any positive comments? negging everybody out that likes the game
