Why was Thompson taken out of the game? Especially after he hit in the bottom of the 6th.

He probably hasn't built up enough stamina yet... it is a little odd that he would hit for himself in the 6th, but Bobby probably didn't want to burn a pinch-hitter up by 3 in that situation, especially with a short bench due to Renteria's injury.
