Re: 2011 Boston Red Sox

Sox offense firing on all cylinders as of late looking good.

So far this year, your chief rivals number is had. Setting history with most wins in a row, etc.

But no over-hype. Enjoying the silent victories.

Yup - I think the terrible start actually helped this team because it kept everyone from talking about them, or putting ridiculous expectations on their season, and all of that. Let them focus on just playing good baseball and so far it seems to be working.

Hopefully Pedey's injury is nothing too serious and the whole injury bug doesn't strike like it did last year.

Agreed 100% with this.

You know things are good when the biggest deal is a damn bat flip Papi does, which is not his first time... hell it is even in MLB The Show on some monster shots, cause he is KNOWN for it.

Nobody complains when Cano admires, every... single... no doubter.

Such a joke the media is. Nothing else better to do than make controversy.

And I do hope Pedey is okay, the team needs him. I have a good feeling he will be fine, and it isn't too serious. *Crosses Fingers*

Re: 2011 Boston Red Sox

Papi keeps hitting in the .320s and mashing HRs, he can flip anything he wants as far as I'm concerned. It's all just media nonsense. Girardi didn't make much of a big deal about it and even admitted he's just inclined to have his guys' backs. I can fully respect that. He's always been one of the Yankees I admired.

To have all the inconsistencies with pitching, some nagging injuries, and some key guys struggling big out of the gate, I'm pretty impressed with being in first place. This offense is scary good and when it all comes together, the Sox are tough to beat.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the Yankees season series comes closer to even by year's end (seemingly almost always does) and I fully expect it to be a tight race to the finish. Like everyone else, I'm happy with the quiet. It's nice to just enjoy my baseball team without all the dramatic "National Enquirer" type headlines all the time. It's been a great season so far!

Re: 2011 Boston Red Sox

Interestingly enough, I thought that the Yankees would finally get one in on Papi, and especially with the fact that he has NEVER been hit by a Yankee pitcher, the bat flip, and the plunking of Tex which was on a cutter, but still hurt him for a game. Instead, Burnett who throws mid 90's, fails to sack up and set the tone for the game, and Papi takes him yard sale in his first at bat.

That being said, I suspect the Yankees are growing weary of being doormats for the Sox this year, and C.C. might actually buzz the tower on somebody today...

However, I would throw this out there. Beckett is a psycho, and he would throw at a puppy if he felt it would help his team win. Believe you me, the Sox have been in the clubhouse watching video of that Cervelli Spikes-Up slide into second base. Burnett might not have the stones to bury a ball in someone's back, but Becks certainly does.

If the Sox feel that slide, which may be the straw that broke the camel's back-was dirty, and Petey needs surgery on that knee, ... be on the lookout for Beckett to quickly let the Yankees know about it.

I would not dig in to deeply if I were Cervelli.

Just my 2 cents.

I doubt we see CC throw at anyone because he knows Beckett will retaliate....and I doubt we see Beckett throw at anyone unless CC does first.

Re: 2011 Boston Red Sox

Crawford, Bucholz and Lowrie all on the DL now.

Should be interesting to see how this team responds. It was right around this time last year that everything fell apart due to injuries.
