Re: Operation Sports Full Minors 2011 - Recruiting

31;

That's great.
I forget what I had Chisenhall at last year(there weren't many A position players)...but I agree...he's going to be at 3B for them for some time IMO.

Chase...Ridin..Yep...that list is pretty much what I have.
Rag makes the point that Hellickson and Brown will already be in from SCEA(hopefully A's!.....if not I'll make them...and just put them in the Vault for those that want to replace them)...
I like his choice of Sano.

I would like to work out the list of the top 50....rate them for potential and post it here in a week or so. I just am a little busy at work right now otherwise would have it done already.

Looking good and I'm excited about getting this started!
Hopefully more guys step up for some teams and we'll be in really good shape.

Thanks!

Good list, I would put Wil Myers as an A- though. And despite all the hype I think Harper's still an A+ (although it doesnt matter in the game). Just my opinion.

Not specific player info but BA now has rankings available for each teams top 10 prospects for 2011 which seems to be defined by the local beat writers of each team. Might be something worth checking out.

Re: Operation Sports Full Minors 2011 - Recruiting

It would be nice if someone from SCEA, upon reading this thread, would pass along to those at SCEA who are making the in-game roster our comments that the particular in-game prospects (Jeremy Hellickson, Domonic Brown , Aroldis Chapman ,Desmond Jennings, Mike Minor, Freddie Freeman, Chris Sale, and Kyle Drabek) who are noted above should be "A" prospects.

For the same reason there are three Detroit prospects who I had not listed previously (as they should be included in the in-game roster) who should be assigned the following potential ratings:

Dan Schlereth - B
Andy Oliver - B
Robbie Weinhardt - C

Just a suggestion on Montero, If you make him an A then his defense will go up as an A, as well. #1 He will never be a gold glover a matter of fact defensively he is Jack Cust. Just keep that in mind when rating him..lower his defensive ratings so that an "a" rating doesnt bring it up too much.

The chart I will give you guys will cover something like that.
For the defensive ratings...I will break it down to poor fielder/average/above average/elite....you would see the attribute(s) that will correspond to that(this would be the players FINAL stat projection)...you will then follow the number back in years to his current age and potential....you will use that number for his current attribute.
It will be simpler than it sounds....and keep everything uniform.
You only need to use the chart if you don't feel confident in figuring out dropping the ratings from what you think he will BECOME and subtracting the probable potential growth numbers for the number of years he will gain points....yourself.

For instance.....you want a 22 y.o. B player to eventually be 80 contact points. He has 5 years(could be 4 or 6.....the game is not exact on this all of the time) of 6-8 point growth(average).....so to start him at 40-46 points would be logical.
If a guy is young...AND ready to get the call....AND is already going to hit for a good average power at the MLB level....go ahead and rate him closer to his final numbers(say leaving one year of growth)....that's not that big of a deal.
On the same note...as itw mentioned...if a guy is very deficient ......and speed and BR aggression would also be big here....don't be afraid to rate them VERY LOW in these areas.

I'm petitioning Kolbe to break the current "everything grows at the same rate" pattern for '12. Speed...should be constant. So should defense ...UNLESS you specifically train that player EXTRA in that area.....
There are a bunch of things I'll be asking him to change about progression.

Yes, hopefully we'll see a different approach to potential/progression in 2012. Some physical abilities need be relatively constant & stable (at least until regression kicks in) -- speed, arm strength, range (assuming they have something like this). On the field improvement should come from the skill ratings associated with them (eg, baserunning ability, fielding skills w/training, etc).

Hopefully potential grades are also further divided into areas so guys like Montero can grow in monsters at the plate, but still be weak in the field.
