Re: Armor & Swords The Show 12 Timed/Classic All-Star Sim Sliders

Going to try these out as well today. These are the settings I'm wanting to play on (All-Star, timed/classic). Someone posted the 1.0 settings in the Vault so I tried those last night. Pretty good, pretty tough, but fair. Really had a hard time hitting but got 2 HR with Brandon Allen (A's) due to a power swing and perfect pitch selection placement. Other than that couldn't hit to save my life - but I'm new to the game.

Thanks for all the hard work, you guys make an already great game even better.

Thanks a lot.

Keep in mind All-Star is very tough to hit. But don't kill yourself. Tweak it up (increase your timing, contact and power slider) if you need, to get the exact balance you desire to make the game enjoyable and realistic for your taste.

Enjoy.

And remember, the thing with sliders is sample size. Give it at least 10-20 games before truly making impressions.

The thing about All-Star hitting isn't that hitting is very difficult. Making perfect swings, and strides on fastballs is actually easy. The frustrating part is when you hit a ball PERFECT in every way, and still ends up as a groundout or a flyout, that is what is frustrating....especially with excellent hitters like Braun, Votto, Gonzo, Kemp and Cargo.

It seems to be so random. Same with pitching. I find it amusing playing with Kershaw on classic only to watch him completely miss the zone pitch after pitch at times. Like going to a full count on a PITCHER at bat, and he completely misses the zone a 4 seamer aimed right down the middle.

THAT isnt realistic at all. Kershaw would never do that.

Then you should play using Zone or Pure Analog for hitting and Meter or Analog for pitching. Timing and Classic heavily factor a players' rating into the outcome of each pitch and at-bat.

To say that Kershaw would never do what you described above is just wrong. Why can't a pitcher draw a walk? I've seen it many, many times in baseball.

Yes. What The Show captures to almost perfection is the sheer randomness of a 162 game baseball season.

I love the fact that CC or Halladay or whatever front line starter you want to insert, sometimes just does not have it that particular day. That is the beauty of classic pitching and timed hitting.

It is the most "simulated like" feel you can get from this game. If you want stick skill or user timing to factor then do what DJ just suggested.

When I played MVP 2005 for 5 straight years.....that was more of a user game as opposed to simulation. The Show gives you a plethora of options to suit the way you want to approach the game.

It's all good.

Yeah Kershaw is still learning to work with his control, I can remember 2-3 years ago when he could not hit the plate to save his life some games.

Sorry but if the count is 3-2 against a PITCHER at bat, and Kershaw aims it right down the middle it will RARELY miss in real life. No pitcher wants to walk another pitcher.

If I select a 4 seamer on a 3-2 count and place it DIRECTLY in the middle of the plate, and it ends up WAY outside, not just a little off but WAY OFF ..that doesn't happen very often. But it happens ALL THE TIME in this game.

Whats even worse is if you look at ALL starting pitchers "control" rating, Kershaw has the HIGHEST out of everyone of them. But he lacks control.

Also I use Pure Analog for hitting and can time it perfectly in stride and swing 90% of the time on breaking balls and 95% of the time on fastballs. Not sure why you assumed I was using "timing" for hitting .
