Well they did win the WS last year so they were the best team last year.

haha Exactly, what people dont understand are these rankings on how the team did LAST YEAR, not on how good they are overall or how they have upgraded/healed in the offseason.

People just know that they have lost uribe & renteria. The giants winning it was a very big "fluke" because it showed how luck and timing beat out talent last year.

Right? How many coaches in any sport get to have 4 straight non winning seasons and still keep their jobs?

If this game were produced on the East coast, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually forgot to put the A's in the game at all.

well.... considering Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Francisco Rodriguez, Johan Santana, and Jason Bay (who really wasnt all that important anyway) all had pretty significant injuries and the Marlins only finished with a record of 1 game better, then yes.
