Re: Commentary Thread

I think the commentary is really good, actually, and i've been playing this game since the PS1 games.

2 Bugs tho'

1) on throws to 1B, the commentary is: "and he tags him out" umm no he didnt, it was a throw to first...

2) and as the pitcher pitches you hear:
"...and Bonds with the pitch.."

I play exclusively Diamond Dyansty now, so maybe it's just that mode...

Overall, commentary is superb. Everyone was asking for NHL to change the commentary - when it wasnt broke, and now its probably the worst commentary the series has ever had.

Be careful what you wish for, people..

Yeah I noticed that too they just say he instead of the persons name

Re: Commentary Thread

I turned the color commentary completely off but have the play-by-play on at a lower volume.

My only rationale for this is that you can occasionally pick up some fielding hints. Otherwise the commentary on this game is trash. Honestly got tired of it after the third game.

You would think they could invest a little time and money into getting solid commentary that generates more diverse discussions and pointers. One of the things I miss from MLB 2K series was the solid commentary from the last several seasons. (I'm sure I'll be blasted for saying that...but oh well.)

Makes little sense to me why commentary is so bad. When I got Madden this last year and heard Phil Simms as one of the commentators I almost returned the game. Then I just turned off the commentary.

Re: Commentary Thread

I'm personally tired of the guys they have especially Matt. He's been doing it for way too long.

Re: Commentary Thread

The truly off-putting fact in all this commentary talk is that, despite all their flaws, 2K baseball games from about 2011 on had a lot more seamless commentary where it didn't sound like unrelated lines stitched together. The biggest thing 2K did right towards the end of their baseball line was that the announcers would actually say players names--and not just [name].....is now at the plate.......[hits/at bats] in the ballgame thus far. They would give pitchers, batters, and fielders names edited fluidly into lines about catching a ball getting a hit. or However they did the editing, Sony really needs to take notice. I think the commentators The Show has (mostly Matty V) are ok but their lines and the editing (or lack thereof) is what needs to be fixed. If 2K can do it, I'm sure the guys at Sony are capable.

This is what the game is dearly missing. They need to completely remove at least 60% of the individual lines triggered by a specific things (we don't need a line every time a pitch touches the dirt, for example), and replace them with general analysis about the game as a whole, or the season as a whole, or whatever else.

Agreed. Don't know why they won't change it up. I think this is the only sports game that has kept the same main announcer for so long.
