MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Hello all! We are under way in my True Braves Franchise with the OSFM rosters. I’m Going to try to play as many games as I can but it will probably amount to 1-2/week (in game). I need to play around with the sliders yet. I’m playing on Hall of fame hitting and all-star pitching. Might have to up the pitching difficulty though. I’m finding it too easy to give up less than 3-5 hits. Or mess with the sliders a bit.

Our opening day roster is pretty damn close to real life. I started with the injuries off, so i have Gohara on my opening day roster. Camargo is starting. Only carrying 2 catchers instead of 3. Acuña is in AAA for a few weeks.

I made a few free agent signings right off the bat to give us some depth. RP Tony Zych to help our bullpen. And Tommy Joseph as a backup 1B and power bat off the bench. Both are spending a couple weeks in AAA to knock the rust off.

Rotation looks like this:
Teheran, McCarthy, Foltynewicz, Newcomb, Gohara. Anibal Sanchez is our long reliever. Bullpen is pretty bad lol. Vizcaino is the closer... for now..

Lineup looks almost identical to real life.

CF Inciarte
2B Albies
1B Freeman
RF Markakis
C Flowers/Suzuki
LF Tucker
3B Camargo
SS Swanson

Opening Day vs the Phillies

We got a big start from Freddie Freeman in the first inning who hit a homerun off the left field foul pole to put the Braves up. The offense would then get hits but not able to string anything together, remained 2-0 until late in the ball game.Teheran came out the gates hot as he pitched no hit ball through 6 2/3 innings. At times struggled with command. Although he only game up 3 hits through 7 innings of work, he surrendered 4 walks, 2 Runs, 1 earned. JP Crawford put the Phillies on the board in the 8th when he hit an inside the park home run to Left center. Tucker misplayed a ball that went to the wall and Crawford had the jets on. 8th inning, Braves would get a single from Tyler Flowers who was pitch ran for by Lane Adams. After a Preston Tucker pop out, Next Batter would be Johan Camargo who sent a liner down the RF line to bring home Adams to put the Braves up 3-2. Arodys Vizcaino comes in, looking to shut the door. Gave a hit, 2 walks to load the bases with no out. He got someone to pop out, and a strike out. With 2 away, he walked PH Scott Kingery to give up the tying run. Braves couldn’t do anything in the bottom. Fast forward to the 10th, Phillies are retired 1-2-3 to head to the home side. First Batter, Freddie Freeman hits a towering fly ball on a 1-1 pitch to right field that landed on the chop house to send the home fans happy!

What a roller coaster of a ride to start the season. Already seems like it’s going to be a fun franchise.

As we progress I’m going to be trading some players as salary dumps, or looking to get a supporting pieces for the future. I hope you guys enjoy my future posts and I’m sorry for the long, drawn out post. I want to give as many details as possible.

Because of this, I’m not able to offer arbitration, renew contracts, set the 40 man, or participate in Free Agency.

So basically, the phase is stuck in the Exclusive Free Agents phase for the first 3 phases of Free Agency and I am losing all my young talent. Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?

I've seen a few people mention this. Is this legit? Would be extremely disappointing and tough to keep playing a carryover save

So that's how my season's started so far. Keep in mind I use dynamic difficulty with hitting right now on All-star and pitching fluctuates between legend/legend+, with analog pitching.

Currently going through the second turn of the rotation, gonna look and see if I need to tweak user pitcher consistency/control any for analog pitching. That'll be a okay like 15 game sample size to at least start looking at and possibly attack any already glaring issues.

I always hit bombs with Gardner lol.

Those of you with Braves franchises in this years or last, when did Acuna and Albies start to really pan out? When did their hitting numbers increase to be dependable?

Well I kept on squawking about realistic ways to nerf the Cubs. You see, the past couple years, I would have a ten-game lead in the NL Central going into September. So the regular season wasn't any fun, because there was no point in playing until the playoffs. That wasn't such an issue with 12, 13, and 14. And I'm already playing on Legend, both hitting and pitching.

But then I came across this thread:

htps://forums.operationsports.com/forums/mlb-show-rosters/930011-sure-has-been-asked.html

So I figured the injury bug would be the answer. Nope. I'm still kicking tail. I still have Baez, Russell, Almora, Happ, Zobrist, Schwarber, Lester, Quintana. They're no slouch.

I don't have a crystal ball or anything, but I get the funny feeling that Baez, Schwarber, and Zobrist are going to be out a little late partying one night, when a tired bus driver slams into their Lyft. They'll live, but can forget about baseball in 2018.
