Overview

We made one HUGE move for trading for Michael Conforto who was on the block to boost up our outfield. He was struggling with the Mets but has been phenomenal since joining our team. He is third on the team in BA (.296) and first in HR and RBI (8) and (20)

We are first in the league in team batting average (.299) second behind us is the Astros at .287. We are 6th in runs (148) first in hits (310), 3rd in doubles (56), 1st in triples (16) and 1st in HR (47)

Pitching has definently been our weak point we are 23rd in ERA (4.55), 30th in hits allowed (323), 21st in runs allowed (136) although we haven't given up too many HR as we sit at 9th with 26.

I don't know what to do to be more successful in defense sometimes it seems that if I don't get a perfect release (HOF METER PITCHING) the ball routinely winds up in the middle of the plate. Even if not, the cpu hits good pitches just as well the majority of the time.

We lost Yoan Moncada for 1-2 months in the last game of April with a broken leg. Jose Rondon (65 OVR SS) was called up after the injury.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

And the re-evaluation trend continues in St.Louis. As the calendar is a few days shy of flipping to June, the Cardinals have yet made another move. This time, sending Zach Britton back to Baltimore for 3 prospects (2 relief pitchers and catcher). This marks the 4th trade for the Cardinals this year and the 3rd trade of a guy signed by the Cardinals in the off-season. Marwin Gonzalez was dealt to the Yankees, Stephen Vogt was shipped to Boston, and now Zach Britton has been sent to the Orioles. Mike Leake was traded earlier in the season, after not getting dealt as expected in the off-season, to the Padres.

Zach Britton who was signed to be the 8th inning guy, then was removed due to ineffectiveness and placed as a middle reliever, was traded after his latest blow up allowing the Diamondbacks to come from behind to beat the Cardinals in walkoff fashion as he was unable to close out a game that the Cardinals had in hand and were counting on him due to the bullpen being worn out. Zach Britton at the time of the trade had a record of 0-2, had allowed 5 homeruns, and has an ERA just shy of 10.

With the sendoff of Britton, Kevin Siegrist has been brought back up from Memphis where he was working out his early season kinks and then was pitching after spending time on the DL with elbow issue.

3 big signings for the Cardinals this offseason and not even a full 2 months into the season, they are all playing on different teams.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Texas Rangers Update- Season 1 MOM

What a turn around. Is it to late? probably. As we near the end of July the Rangers are now 8 games under 500 and no longer in last. We sit 12 games out of first and 9 out of the Wild Card. Compare that to the end of June when we were dead last in the AL and 20 1/2 games out. We dealt Deshields and Diekman and in return we got allot. Deshields got us Chacin and Knebel from the Brewers and Diekman landed us Goody and Rajai Davis. Davis leads the AL in steals with 33 at the end of July and Knebel has 32 saves already. I still think there is a problem with lack of injuries. I have slider at 8 for played MOM games and 6 for sim. I get injuries in the Minors but played games yield very little. 4 in all and they have been minor

Team Break down

C- Chirinos sent down and now its Nicholas and surprising Jose Trevino both playing well
1b- Gallo has been terrible. He is hitting 175 with 6 HR's through 104 games.
2b- Odor- Solid season. Hitting 255 with team leading 21 HR's
SS- Elvis- 299 hitter. Solid across the board
3B- Adrian- The HOF continues to click hitting 17 HR's
LF- Choo- 235- really nothing special
CF- Leody Tavaras- Blistering start as he was named Rookie of the month in April. Full time playing time has him down in the 230's now. He is only 19
RF Mazara- Terrible start in April and half of May but is now a 270 hitter with solid power numbers

Pitching
1. Hamels- Terrible year ERA sitting at 5.4
2. Volquez- OK 4.9 ERA
3. Chacin- Great trade leads team with a 2.9 ERA and 11 wins
4. Fister- Up and down year ERA at 4.5
5. Jon Niese- Jury is out. Called him up after he tore it up in AAA.

Perez and Minor were both sent down

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Mets have fallen back to Earth after their amazin' start to the season. May hasn't been kind to New York, with the team losing five of its last seven games. Despite a 10-game and an 8-game winning streak, the Mets are only 4 games ahead of Washington for the NL East lead.

You recognized your mistakes before it's too late. Might work out in the long run for you.

I hope so.

I swear there is some underlying team chemistry built into this game. Gonzalez and Vogt gone, we immediately go on 4 game winning streak until its snapped by another Zach Britton blow up.

We've hit better and pitched better, outside of Britton, since those two trades. I know its probably 98% a coincidence, but I wonder.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

I started a Seattle franchise and traded Segura, Paxton and Healy for Machado. A big price I know. I love the pressure of trying to win now with Manny. And if I am out of contention at the deadline I can get a nice haul of prospects to start the rebuild.

I started off the year 1-5 but have won 3 in a row. The lack of pitching depth has really been tough to overcome.
