Re: Official UFC 09 Undisputed Career progression thread

I'm having a great career right now - I can't recall who the first big name I took on was - but then I took on Ed Herman (who is apparently a bobble head), and finished him in the 3rd via KO (my first KO in this career).

It was an awesome fight, too. I played to my strengths, and he did a good job avoiding them. I had to be very careful because he hits pretty hard, and my guy isn't a stand up fighter. When I finally got mount and knocked him out, it felt awesome. Next fight is against Fisher who in my first career KO'd me in a fight I was winning in the 3rd... So in this career I have no plans to stand up with him, and this will be my revenge shot.

Re: Official UFC 09 Undisputed Career progression thread

I've start on experienced, but look at advance once I become more graceful in this game. But I am really enjoying it.

If I was terrorizing my career on experienced, I would automatically change difficulty. But I want to learn the ground game on a easier level.

I'm currently 7-3 and was on a 5 fight win streak until I lost to Kazuhiro Nakamura via KO. Also ranked 18 in the Light Heavyweight division.

Been using a fighter template, just with the styles I enjoyed. I would prefer wrestling/ground n pound, but chose a more technical BJJ style.

But I rely more on my kickboxing rather then ground game, although I've tried submitted some to no avail.

Re: Official UFC 09 Undisputed Career progression thread

Just had my 3rd title defense last night, i fought R Evans, & it was an 11 sec KO, caught him with a spinning back fist and he was OUT!!! Got the trophy for the "That was Easy" award, and when I was asked who I wanted to fight next, I picked Evans, since the last fight was a fluke, so Ill be fighting him tonight to go for win 10 in a row, and title defense #4...

Re: Official UFC 09 Undisputed Career progression thread

I created a welterweight last night and started a new career. I had high hopes of being able to submit the computer. I put it on experienced, so they'll do enough transtition attempts to tire themselves out but overall it's not difficult, and shouldn't be difficult to submit guys. I pumped my submission offense up to a 60 as soon as I could. Each of my first three fights, I'd easily take the guy down, ride him out, do a little damage, block a dozen transition attempts or so, go for either the arm bar or rear naked choke, and nothing. They'd get out.

I'm guessing if I sat around until near the end of the second or into the third, my odds would go up. In my entry fight, I finally submitted the guy with about 10 seconds to go in the second. But if I'm in the mount midway through the first and the guy is exhausted, I don't feel like waiting around until the next round to submit the guy when I can just KO him now, even with inferior striking stats.

And that's probably what I'll end up doing at some point, playing this jiu-jitsu ace as a ground-and-pounder but skilling him up in submissions for use against human opponents when my career's up. But that's dumb, and I just finished up a ground-and-pounder, so that's on the back burner for now.

Instead I think I'm going to create a Dutch kickboxer at middleweight. A Chuck Liddell type, but with better kicks. Probably will take wrestling for my grappling for the slams out of the submissions since I'll be brute forcing them anyway. I was thinking judo, but I don't really plan on throwing anyone, especially with how easy it'd be to reverse one into a rear naked choke with how bad my clinch grappling offense will be.

If you want to start off going for knockouts Kickboxing is the best with head kicks. I started off in 155 at 6ft tall and I get kicks rolling and kill anyone from sean shrek to Bj Penn. I trained my kickboxing with the liddel camp and its pretty high and I get to do alot of burst damage with combos. Currently I hold the title in the class and the submitions are a thing that you have to get use to. What I do is play very passive and try to avoid take downs and when I do get taken down I try to get on top and punish the guy for getting into that position. Ground and pound do work very well in this game. Since I am set up as a power puncher I get out of submitions but beating the guy until he lets go.

If you are hoping to get in there and submit the real fighters right off the bat, i think that is going to be hard as hell. But if you start with the BJJ you should really go to the camps and train that all the way. You unlock new moves you can do and it gets your submitions alot stronger. I got to my title by just beating the hell out of the guy in front of me. I think this is the softer way of playing the game but I try to put my points in submition defence and offence. All this put together and you should win most fights. My advise is you should play with what ever you like. If you prefer punches go with the boxxing/kickboxxing. But if you want to be a Gracie go with the crazy bjj or judo(very strong).

Re: Official UFC 09 Undisputed Career progression thread

I'm 20-4 and just grabbed the title. Currently on a 6 fight win streak. Started out with a 5 fight streak, then alternated a few wins and losses before getting on another streak. I lost one decision to Hendo, but the others were TKOs. Had to toughen up that chin . Freakin' Bisping caught me with a lucky punch after I was KILLING him. That's why I gave him the opportunity to prove it wasn't luck in my first title defense.

Early on I was beating everyone with Muay Thai clinch, but out of nowhere I started knocking dudes out with high kicks. I'm on Muay Thai level 3 and Wrestling level 2. Soon I'm going to start working my stats towards more ground and pound for balance.

I'm a lightweight fighter using Boxing/Judo named Brian Peppers. I'm 10-4 currently and playing on expert. All of my losses were from submissions, I gotta raise my submission defense. It's around 22 right now, haha.

I think that I am going to start a new career on advanced, so I have to be more strategic.
