there should not be one card that is worth more then the value of the game itself. we the customers are the fault of that. we keep eating up what they dish out its only going to get worse.
Micro transactions are becoming more common and widely accepted across all video games. The last few years micro transactions were in its infancy and people were hesitant. But as more and more people bought VC 2k got the green light to milk it. Packs went up in price and odds decreased. Last year the most you could spend at a time was $50 for 200k VC. This year you can spend $100 for 450k VC. I won't be surprised if next years game has a price break for buying 1mil VC at a time.

There are many games coming out now, especially through apps, that are free to purchase. Then there are a million micro transactions for DLC. It is really the consumers fault, like you mentioned, we have accepted this practice and given game developers the green light to exploit this. Now when it comes to game development, companies are looking to make more money off of these transactions than the actual sale of the game themselves. Therefore, a lot of the content that comes in the game is targeted to selling as much VC as possible.

Unfortunately, I do not see this trend stopping any time soon. However, a truly good game developer will still make the game playable and enjoyable for those who don't pay to play, while giving a boost and saving time for those who do pay. With that in mind, it is appearing that 2k is becoming notoriously greedy in trying to get people to pay.

One last point. With the expansion of digital downloads for games, developers get to save tons of money on packaging and distribution too.

The saddest part is that when anybody attempts to argue for a better system with more accountability for the developers to provide quality content and not 60$ betas, you're met with the most riled up anger.

PRO AM DID NOT WORK FOR A MONTH AT THE START OF THE GAME. <-- That is a sad fact of a 60$ title and is absolutely disgusting.

People arguing that we aren't allowed to demand anything of developers because that makes us greedy and ungrateful.

it's sickening. People arguing against their own interests as consumers. I would appreciate US consumer protection laws though. Something along the lines of being forced to expose drop-rates for micro-transactions in games. Much like on the back of a lottery ticket:

1$: 1/5

5$ 1/20

50$ 1/500 etc.

Diamond... 1/10,000
Purple... 1/4000

etc.

Pack odds should be mandatory and checked.

You should know on what you are spending, and this is getting really out of control.

I get the whole pay to win scope, it is great for the companies, plus they get additional cash, even more than what they got for the purchase of the game it self.

Pack buying is like gambling, no one can argue that. And it can be addictive for some people also.

So when I go to the casino and I play the roulette and I put 10$ in number 3, I know my odds are 1/37 (36 numbers plus the 0), but if I win I will get paid 36 times.

Which for the casino is steady profit sinceaccording to large numbers theory when the ball spins, they win 1/37 (2,7%) of the cash in the table.

I am aware what the odds are, some people will decide to play, some people won't.
Same for all lotteries. You can calculate the chances.

What about packs though? Would ANYONE know how many Curry's there are in the packs? Can anyone really argue that chances are rigged? I have gotten Luke Babbit like 20 times, but only one amethyst (Paul) and I am considered lucky.
What are my chances of getting an amethyst player? The game says "increased chances"

What does increased mean? From 0,0001% to 0,0002%?

Since micro transctions are SUCH a common practice, specific rules should be applied, chances should be known to ALL when starting a transaction, or to my eyes it is considered theft.

Odds in games should definitely be disclosed and, if that happened, companies would start to put their act together. But the fact is that it is a legal issue and without applicable legislation that forces companies to comply, that won't happen.

I just find it really strange that ConsumerCare organizations are not into this thing, since it is a big part of digital industry right now.

Legislation\regulation is usually reactive, not proactive (e.g. drones legislation). Unless there's some kind of event that makes them pay attention to these issues, won't change. If someone knows someone that can change the status quo, please do reach out to them

and if it were to go that deep, 2k would have to change the wording which is clearly misleading.

Dynamic Packs - "Highest chance to pull a Dynamic card" well thats the only pack they are in so its the ONLY chance. how did people miss this? Not to mention the chances of pulling Current cards appear to be somewhere between 8-1 or 9-1 which is ridiculous.

Moments Packs - see Dynamic Packs

Throwback Thursday - just says "a chance of pulling a TBT card"

it is gambling and it is addictive. besides burning the MT I got with the pre-order I didn't buy packs for months. That allowed me to build a monster collection just off saved MT. Like public gambling though...I read "success stories" that tempted me down that path and now I am at least 300k poorer because of this decision with nothing to show for it and on a daily basis I buy packs to hope that just one of those packs will net my 300k return or more and that is no different than any other gambling addiction.

That is a personality disorder, has nothing to do with 2K and their crappy packs.
