Re: What would you want from my team 2k18?
In short: i just want to play against similar teams.
Long version:
Matchmaking based on roster quality that actually works. Then you should be able to choose between two online modes:
- play against teams with a similar roster
- play against all team
Of course first they'll have to fix the way they currently grade your lineup. For example, it's beyond me how i get a 90+ overall lineup while using 2 amethysts, 2 rubies + a mix of sapphire, emerald, gold and then of course 3 bronze bench warmers.
1. Just add up all the players' overalls and divide them by 13... boom, you have your average. That would be a start.
2. If they want to put in a tiny amount of effort they can expand this basic formula a bit by adding badges to the mix. Obviously hall of fame badges should be weighed more heavily than bronze ones...
3. Finally, to make it close to perfect, put more weight on high overalls. For example: the highest overall is 99 and the lowest is 65 so you take the average of that which is 82. Now, to keep it simple i'll just use the tiers instead of overalls so our average is emerald (82). Basically emeralds and everything below won't have any extra points added to them while sapphire and above will. I'll just use the basic factor of two to illustrate what i'm trying to say even though it may not be the best and/or most balanced formula to use. Sapphires will have an added 2 points, ruby 4, amethyst 8, diamond 16, pink diamond 32. So for example an 80 overall will count as 80, an 85 as 87, 90 as 98, 95 as 111 and 99 as 131.
Now you might be wondering why the extra points for higher rated cards? At first glance it does seem like the first two steps with the basic overalls and badges should be enough. Unfortunately i'd imagine there will be people who'll try to cheat the system by using a 6 or 7 man rotation of 95+ players and then have 65 overalls for the rest of their team in order to artificially lower their team's overall rating. That way their overall might be low enough to get matched up with people using a more realistic ten or especially 13 men rotation with 70-75 overall players instead of those 65 overalls that never get used. By adding the extra points this becomes impossible.
