Sweet 16

West Region

#4 Kentucky knocks off the first #1 seed in Gonzaga 67-64 behind RJ Ellis and his 23 points. Ellis came up big every play and nailed some clutch free throws down the stretch. Justin Drexler struggled scoring in this one, but was able to distribute and rebound well. He would finish with 11 points, 9 assists, and 12 rebounds.

#6 Richmond upsets #2 Texas 78-70. Texas tried to throw body after body at Dakara Thunder but it simply did not matter. He would finish with 34 points. PF Jaevin Simpson and C Mookie Traylor both decided to enter the draft, while C Rosel Jackson will be back for his senior year, the Langford twins back for their junior years, as well as PG Tyrone Gaines coming back for his sophomore year.

Midwest Region

No repeat for #1 Purdue as they fall to #5 Harvard 83-81. Jamon Tiggs did everything in his power to keep it close, and had a shot at the buzzer that rimmed out. Tiggs was very upset after the loss and stated that he would be back for his senior year. Brad Hale shot lights out in this one and finished 5-5 from 3 and had 19 points while Porter Klein dished out 7 assists.

#2 Kansas knocks off #6 Murray State 75-66. Freshman Seth Dixon had 7 assists and no turnovers, while freshman Markell Baldwin led all scorers with 29 points.

South Region

#5 Oklahoma State knocks off #1 Alabama 73-61. Oklahoma State sophomore PG Chet Perry is capturing the hearts of America with his energetic play. Perry led all scorers with 26 points. Freddie Kaman had 21 points in the game, but Perry forced him into 5 turnovers.

#2 Houston destroys #11 Notre Dame 80-55. David Wiley’s ankle was just fine in this one, and Houston looks to get to the final 4 in a wide open south region. Wiley had 28 points in the win.

East Region

#1 Duke takes down #4 Ohio State 77-74. This was much closer than the other games Duke has played. Giovanni Gamble had an off night, but Lawson Marsh was simply fantastic in this one scoring 31 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.

#2 Michigan State finishes off #3 Arizona State 93-88. This is the most points Michigan State has scored all season and they needed every one of them to hang on.

Elite 8

#4 Kentucky advances to the Final 4 over #6 Richmond 73-71. RJ Ellis had 21 points and 7 assists in the win. Dakara Thunder looked completely outmatched in this one and only finished with 14 points.

#5 Harvard stuns the nation as they advance to their first ever Final 4 over #2 Kansas 76-72. Brad Hale led all scorers with 26 points while hitting 4 three pointers. Seth Dixon was the best player on the floor for the Jayhawks tonight as he finished with 19 points and 6 assists.

#2 Houston takes down #5 Oklahoma State 66-60 behind 21 points from David Wiley.

#1 Duke eliminates #2 Michigan State 83-71. Giovanni Gamble put on a show in this one and finished with 38 points. This game was tied 69-69 with 3 minutes remaining before Gamble hit 3 straight 3 pointers. He knew how to turn it on when the game mattered most.

Final 4

#4 Kentucky ends the insane run from #5 Harvard 83-78. Kentucky C Stevan Nance stepped up big in this one after remaining relatively quiet all tournament. You could tell the game plan was to work it into Nance as Harvard did not have much height. RJ Ellis would finish with a career high 13 assists. Brad Hale ended 3-8 from 3 point range and finished with 17 points. It remains to be seen what Brad Hale will do after this season as he can enter the NBA draft where he would likely be a late 1st rounder, or he could be a grad transfer and be eligible immediately where every school in the nation will be recruiting him.

#1 Duke takes down #2 Houston in a high scoring affair 93-88. Giovanni Gamble and David Wiley went back and forth all game. Wiley would erupt for 41 points, while Gamble would finish with 31. Lawson Marsh had 26 points of his own and between Gamble and Marsh, Houston just couldn’t keep up.

Championship Game

#1 Duke takes on #4 Kentucky in a battle of blue bloods for the national championship. Early on it became clear that Kentucky was going to make Giovanni Gamble beat them as every time Lawson Marsh touched the ball he was double teamed by Kentucky bigs Stevan Nance and Cal Slater. Marsh had a tough time getting going early in the game. Cal Slater had 8 points in the first half while RJ Ellis had 15 in the first. Gamble who was given the green light in this one started off hot and would pile up 19 first half points. Duke would take a 37-30 lead into halftime. After the break Kentucky switched it up and started double teaming Gamble. Gamble struggled to adjust and could not find Lawson Marsh down low for easy baskets. RJ Ellis was able to pull the Wildcats ahead late in the game. With 5 minutes remaining, Kentucky would lead 65-61 before Gamble would finally break out in the 2nd half and hit back-to-back threes. With both Kentucky bigs fouling out with 2 minutes remaining, Duke got the edge they needed. Lawson Marsh would finish the game strong with 7 points in the final 2 minutes and Duke would win 74-68.

Giovanni Gamble was named Tournament MVP after the game after finishing with 31 points.
Lawson Marsh ended with 15 points, 13 coming in the 2nd half.
RJ Ellis of Kentucky had 23 points and 9 assists in the loss.

Early look at next season
Brad Hale of Harvard has decided to come back for his senior year and he will do so by transferring to Iowa State. Hale adds even more 3 point shooting to the Cyclones. Iowa State could be in the preseason top 5 with this stacked lineup.

McDonald's All American Game

The East All-Stars knocked off the West All-Stars 139-117 behind a collective team effort.

PG Jamar Summers was named the games MVP and looks like a lock to go #1 in the upcoming draft.

The West had 9 of 10 players entering the NBA draft, with the lone college commit Iowa State PG Richie Miller. Miller joked about it before the game and said he was not going to shoot a single shot in the game and he did just that and managed 14 assists.

SG Ziggy Jordan of USC poured in 24 points and looks ready to get some shots up this season for the Trojans. He is a 3 level scorer and showed it this game.

Sullivan Cotton looks like he is going to make an immediate impact at Michigan State this year.
