I say that because NFL 2k5 had the best presentation of any sports game ever. Franchise had weekly highlights. They had player interviews.

Nba 2k is taking steps but I don't understand why they haven't added weekly highlights yet.

That's really the only thing I'm a big fan of. The animations make the game look real. Once they add better control the gameplay will catch up to the animations.

Only thing I don't like is mo capping some of those falls and stuff that doesn't happen in real life. Or doesn't look real/fluid like everything else. Like that falling back floater everyone does after they catch a pass in the paint.
Sorry, quick side track here:

I always see this highlights thing brought up, and just want to remind folks that 2K5 had those highlights baked onto the discs. The player names and such changed, but it's not like they were pulling highlights from other games for the weekly highlights. It's why the Xbox had the actual highlights (it had a hard drive) and the PS2 one just had screenshots if you didn't have a hard drive.

Obviously I think any game could do that again, but I feel like we've moved on from that being acceptable. I just don't think any sports game has put the resources towards or figured out the way to auto-generate highlights that can then be talked over and shown in a "highlight show" that people would love -- plus the other half of that is pulling highlights from your own games or other users in your online league and doing the same thing for them.

I think it will happen eventually, but the 2K5 way probably isn't the way anyone is going to go if/when it comes back.

I'd be fine with a weekly recap type of show where they talk about what's going on in the Association. Something like Ernie and Shaq, the way they are pregame, talking about stuff with stat graphics to highlight their points. But to the actual highlights, (not saying it's easy) couldn't they just pull from the your locally "saved" highlights and play a few from there? I agree that we have moved beyond the pre-rendered stuff. I love CH2K8 but those canned highlights are antiquated. They were the same vignettes, just changed out the player. It was groundbreaking at the time, though. The information delivered and the way it was presented is still unmatched in a sports game, IMO. The Sunday Selection Show was like 20 minutes long.
