So it wasn't just me? The defenders really WERE psychic this year, and not last year?

The real issue is the stoic defenders.... they stare into your soul and read the move you're going to make and react instead of reading and reacting.

Also I miss the 2k11 days when you could do a basic moving crossover with the left stick. Going 45 degrees after a screen is near impossible now and makes maneuvering in tight places difficult.
You're essentially saying the same thing I am, lol

It's not really about 2K16 having the better mechanic (even though I do miss sig dribbles)...its the way it interacts with the defense...

You cant do the killer cross or spins in close range I did, the input would be deaded because the defenders to close....or could slide in at the tail end and the ball richocets off the defenders force field.

2K16 started off similar but they somehow patched out a lot of the warping and really opened the game up...I was waiting on thay patch for 2K17 all year, smh

2K17's defense wasn't realistic despite having all that control as a dribbler. The defense didn't have to fear a drive. They programmed the CPU defense to be in position to stop the drive, and contesting the jump shot without giving realistic spacing to play the drive. Very few defenders are capable of behaving like the way it is in 2K17 So it came across very unrealistic even if your box scores looked ok. The CPU doesn't have to respect momentum, physics or hardly ever gambles or guesses.

Re: Making Dribbling Fun Again in 2K18

This is the main reason why I stopped playing 2k17 after I started playing 2k16 again the control of my player on offense was just night and day, and I forgot how much I missed the signature dribbles. I would rather my 2k Kyrie counterpart LOOK like the actual Kyrie dribbling over me having to make up dribbling moves for the sake of having more control which 2k17 did a horrible job of both.

Speaking of 2K16, I'm considering picking it up some time. I have played 2K14 and 2K15. When compared to these games, would you say that 2K16's dribbling was more responsive, smoother? Less animation heavy? Any delay?

Re: Making Dribbling Fun Again in 2K18

I hope the new physics and animation system applies to the CPU AI on ball defense. The youtubers and others talked about the new animation system saying how you are in more control of different animations. I just hope this applies realistically to the CPU on ball defense which I don't think anyone really mentioned yet. I think we all want realistic control and realistic on ball defense.
