I'll explain...

So I'm playing my career and I know I can get the flashy passer badge on bronze pretty easily by just spamming the B button every time I pass.
After doing this for a couple of games and getting the badge I go and play walk on with some friends. And out of a bad habit I start flashy passing every time I pass.

For most low IQ players my player is a teaching tool and helps form bad, terrible, habits.
Someone like myself will quickly notice this and correct it, but most don't and just continue to do the bad habits that they've learned from my career.

Imo, it all comes down to badges .
I hate badges and think they should be removed from the game completely.
I actually like the idea of badges---I just think it needs to be done differently in how we obtain them and how effective some of them are.

This is the only reason I'm for badges---if you use it right, it can encourage more ball movement and have teams hunt for better shots (Which only happens if you play with people you know)

For example, this is where it would encourage better team play---let's say somebody dribbles down the court, defenders are all over the place, the ball handler finds himself open and sees another skilled shooter in the corner.

Two things the ball handler could do: pull up for a shot that's open, or pass to the corner for an even higher percentage shot because of corner specialist/catch and shoot?

Something along those lines.

The problem is, you don't need badges for that. Ratings can accomplish the exact same thing.
You could remove badges and further separate attributes to get a much deeper game.

For instance, separate three point shooting to areas. Corner, top, wing, and deep range. Passing to bounce pass, chest pass, flashy pass, alley oops, deep pass, and pass while moving.
You could do it with any group of attributes and by doing so you would get far more diversity in my players.
Why group offensive and defensive rebounds together? My player is the only place that does these types of things.

You can see where your teammates are, open or not, where the entire defense is on the court, the open spaces, etc.

Communication in real life is necessary because players don't have the ability to see everything on the court. When everything is afforded to you, the need for communication is almost moot. Just need you to pay attention to more than just the ball. Honestly, it's not that hard to get or understand

Problem is you're seeing things from your perspective only.

I see the problem you guys are talking about with randoms but I personally don't go thru it because I normally don't play with them. Sometimes, but not often. I see other randoms do this when I play against them tho.

But if you don't wanna turn your mic on and communicate and you take a L because some guy is playing hero ball. That's on you. If you do turn your mic on and the guy continues to be trash, then he's trash and chalk it up to a bad gaming experience.

Bottom line you can't say what you see and think other ppl see it too. That's not how the world works IRL or in video games.

Like playing a FPS and I tell someone 'Don't over extend yourself in that gunfight' They'll be like "HUH?!" And continue to chase another player around the corner and get killed.

Yeah I knew that was gonna happen, that's why I said it. But just because I see things doesn't mean the other player on the screen is aware enough to see what I see. Don't hold the nameless random with such high accountability. Everyone doesn't see what you see. That's all Im saying.

I don't disagree with you, but I think it's been mentioned in the past that doing attributes/ratings that way would be much more difficult.

And as we already know, this game has a really hard time just doing simple things.

Just putting out a finished game appears to hard at this point.

Re: Basketball IQ Within Community?

The IQ of this community is so freaking low online. Probably the lowest I’ve seen compared to other online titles I play. Even guys that actually play basketball don’t know how to space the floor , pick b rolls etc ...

That's the scary part. Guys that actually play ball. Don't realize it.
