Finally. Someone gets what I was talking about.

See the problem here is that people are so afraid of 2k doing a patch and ruining the gameplay, that ANY kind of complaint gets shot down. We aren't complaining about difficulty. The game defense and difficulty is great.

It's the scriptedness of the MyCareer shooting. Just because I may get screened and leave a 3pt shooter open for a split second doesn't mean every single one of those shots should go in, but they do. If the CPU ends up doing a switch on me and puts my 6'3 shortness up against Hassan Whiteside who is probably a top 5 center in the league, if he completely destroys me, I shouldn't get hit for a teammate grade. It's a serious mismatch and not exactly my fault.

The mode needs work is what I'm saying. Less dev time with the story, more dev time with the mechanics.

I did read it. You complained the AI didn't miss any shots. I suggested maybe you should practice defense because it's different this year and perhaps that's why they're not missing. I also suggested that maybe you should drop down the difficulty to see if that helps your issue.

I'm not sure what else you want me (or anyone) to do here. If you're getting B+ to A+ grades every single game there isn't much of an issue unless you just want it to be super easy so you can get A+ grades every game without much effort. If that's the case then do what I suggested: Drop the difficulty down.

Maybe my original post came off as snarky. I apologize if you read it that way. I was actually trying to give you some help.

Some people are missing the point, but that happens here all the time, nothing can be done about that. I agree with the OP, yes you can win games, get great teammate grades, and put up numbers, but the gameplay is designed in a way that certain outcomes will be produced as a direct result of what the User does or doesn't do, not organically, but in a very contrived fashion. For me its design ultimately renders the mode not fun to play every year.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Yes yes yes! Perfectly stated! That is EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

Sorry BA, no disrespect but you're still not getting it dude. It's not about practicing defense. I play defense very well. It does not matter how good my defense is, I'm not going to be able to bounce around a 7 foot 270lb center at the drop of a dime me being 6'3 and 170'ish lbs. Not in time for that 3pt shooter to let one loose. It's just not happening. Those shots will go in no matter what in MyCareer mode, and then you get dinged for the teammate grade.

Basically it's something that is out of my control is what I mean. Sure I can do it against players that aren't brick walls, but serious mismatches it's not happening. I could be on Rookie difficulty and the outcome is the same.

Why..

This doesn't happen in MyLeague, why MyCareer. I understand they want to make you pay for making a mistake, but no shot should be an automatic and I'm telling you, these shots don't miss...ever.

Does the AI miss shots? Sure. But not when you make a mistake on defense.

Also, on many plays if I'm shooting a FT and whether I make or miss it, my opposition guy is all the way down on the other side of the court and unless I grow wings, I'll never get there in time.

Then, the long pass bomb by the CPU...my opposition guy shoots, makes it, and I take the negative hit on the teammate grade for it.

Absolute bs. I can't move fast enough to catch him...cause I barely have finished my shot at the FT line! The **** is about as unfair as it comes.

If I check the "Scouting Report" on my opposition guy and he's a 3 pt shooter, then I'm going to go OVER on the screens, and when I do, he still shoots, automatic make and I get dinged for it. If he's a driver type player, I go under...he still shoots the 3 even if he's not that good...I get dinged for it.

I love the gameplay in MyLeague, but MyCareer is horrible with how you get dinged for the teammate grades.
It's def scripted. My first NBA game the Spurs did not miss a single shot in the first half.

Re: MyCareer is extremely scripted, not only about storyline

I get what you’re saying about open shots going in a lot but I don’t think it’s specifically scripted against the user. I had Kawhi Leonard light up my team for 57 points but it wasn’t me covering him. Seemed like every open shot he got was a make. Steph Curry just went off 9/10 from 3 in the first half in my last game. Most of them were nice set plays where he got open looks but that’s still crazy. Then again, I have Lebron on my team and he’s shooting over 50% from 3 after 35 games which is crazy high. Again, a lot of them are open looks. This is on Superstar.

I know exactly what you're talking about, OP. It's ridiculous at times. Even on All-Star which is what I play at too. There are some shots that just shouldn't be going in or are automatic, but they are every time in MyCareer. These CPUs are something else

Re: MyCareer is extremely scripted, not only about storyline

You know how sometimes when you get screened (picked), and your opposition player you're supposed to guard sprints on the opposite side of the arc. I wish I could replay it, but I run around the screen and sprint my arse off to get over to where he was.

The game actually gave me a ding for leaving my assignment, LOL. It was literally a second to get around the screen and sprint over there.
