Re: Since when is "Rondo ball" good basketball strategy?

Archetypes limit offense so much IMO. The game speed being as slow as it is doesn't help either. I haven't come across 1 comp team that runs 5 out this year though. Half of the time the PG is spotting up because a lockdown defender is on him from Tip Off. There was much more diversity in offensive scheme in 2k16. Now that archetypes have been introduced it's become rather stale.

I'm confused. Having 4 friends to play with makes me a scrub?

Rondo ball without his iq.

The new meta begets rondo ball as well.

Sharp/play
Sharp
Lock
Sharp
Glass

That’s literally only one guy who can dribble or create their own shot.

Why do they do it? 'Cause they're all copycats. They don't actually know any other way to play apparently. It's "Play 2K" not "Play Basketball". They're just trying to sync up HOF dimer with HOF limitless etc. But in the process, bad offensive flow, predictable O, and less team chemistry. People should realize there's other basketball strategy (see GSW) than "PG dribbles around for 20 sec trying to get 30 assists".
I agree with where you're coming from but is this their fault or is this 2K's fault?

If 2K makes it so you can stack multiple badges on top of each other to get a big boost to your shot percentage why wouldn't they use that strategy? As far as the meta of 2K goes that sounds like efficient basketball to me.

No one is going to run set plays or use the post, when a simple pick and roll can garner much better results?

It may work vs bad teams, but after a while it becomes super predictable and repetitive. Not to mention, team chemistry suffers because the only one touching the ball is the PG most of the time. And when the defense stops it, there's usually no fall back option(s). Just PG running around holding the ball for 20 sec trying to get 30 assists instead of letting other players playmake.

Yeah but the problem is if you let any other players playmake you will have a worse offense because one of those players playing off the ball is going to be a guard that can't shoot.

The passing in 2k isn't conducive to a pass heavy offense.
