Re: Would you be fine with your MyPlayer being an archetype based on a real NBA playe

There were plenty of times, where I don't want to be an all around superstar, I just want to model MY player after a current player or legend. Where now your player is pretty much a glorified role player. You're banking on badges to make up for the lower secondary ratings. I just want my 90 Overall player to feel like 90 Overall. 2k always inflated MyPlayer OVRs. I rarely felt the difference between my player when he is 78 compared to 90 besides badges.

I'm a offline player. I don't want to be restricted. I had more fun in a Player Lock MyLeague. I didn't make my Player OP, but my player felt unique. In MyCareer, it feels like I'm just playing for the grind. I usually just grind up to 90 OVR and badges. I don't have ample time to play. So I grind for 2 months then by time I get where I want to just play for enjoyment, I get tired of the mode. So if it is the same model this year, I will just do a MyLeague again

No because then I’d have that players weaknesses as well.

You wanna balance out the game but you don’t wanna hold players back from having great players

How do you balance a game without giving players weaknesses?

If they make the game to where you model an existing player that would Mean your ceiling is that player. That doesn’t make sense and holds players back. If that were the system everyone would just pick the KD or Curry mold

I mean yea. That’s been my argument the whole time.

I just don’t see how you balance the game for created players without some hard weaknesses built in to each archetype. I would want to see more archetypes and more definitive weaknesses between all the types, to make your choice more consequential, along with the ability to tweak caps at a cost to other ratings/badges, to cater to whatever play style you have in mind too.

Yes, but it has to be every single player in the NBA available; past and present. Also, they should have a ratings cap so that if you choose "Seth Curry" as your archetype, you could still be able to reach the same overall as someone who chose "Steph Curry" as their archetype, without either players being able to max out every rating. So basically, as soon as a player goes from 98 to 99, their ratings are capped (Remove awareness and intangible ratings for MyCareer to avoid false overalls). That way, you can only be the best version of yourself, and not an absolute demi-god.

I personally believe that height and weight should only affect physical ratings such as speed and things, and have the player's animations reflect their physical ratings. So, a 7 footer can have James Harden's double step back, but they should have a much slower animation than James Harden's.

picking durant . kawhi , curry or giannis is basicially going to make you a demi god when you go against fools who pick a guy who aint even in rotation.

matter of fact who even put in resources for an archtype who aint going to pick by anybody.

pretty curious how you are supposed to get to 99 when you pick a guy who is capped at 75 overall......

Also a 7 footer who tries harden double step back should loose the ball and brake his ankles in the process.

are you sure you want a simulation and not some arcade game?

Pretty much all of this.

Realism is the enemy of balance in this regard. If people want realistic archetypes then someone needs to explain how they would like 2k to factor in genetics, to produce players of random sizes, where you just take what you get. Everyone would choose the KD archetype in real life if that was an option at birth, but alas, there’s only one of him
