Those are just a few real world examples. It's not really breeding gamblers because 2K isn't trying to get people to go to a real casino, but they're tryna get people to gamble in their games.
So...a handful of people fell to the darkside and admitted it on Reddit, and we need to start regulating NBA 2K? Okay....

Sucks for those people who lacked self-control, but that's more a personality disorder than NBA 2K "grooming" gamblers. Sorry, but not sorry.

This whole "lacked self-control" thing is an undefeated excuse. You're depressed? It's because you lack self control. You have ADHD? It's because you lack self control. You don't like the way you look so you get plastic surgery? It's because you lack self control.

Lack of self control is undefeated. That's why people take advantage of those who may have an underlying "personality disorder". Someone call you out on it, just say, "Hey, no one told them to get addicted! They have a disorder!". Best excuse in the world.

Re: Angryjoe's 2k take.

So lootboxes are evil and they should be removed from NBA 2k and ultimate team modes.

Can somebody please suggest an alternative away from lootboxes that makes acquiring players and trading them on the auction house fun?

I'm done arguing the semantics, I want to hear genuine alternatives that are achievable and enjoyable.

Because what is happening is that a group of players that DON'T play a game mode are trying to take away the mode from the group of players that DO. So if you want to bomb the entire foundation of a mode that people enjoy I want to hear a better alternative.

That's my point exactly. We're in the fake outrage age for sure. The fact that people come up here on a regular basis only proves that they not trying to invoke REAL change. Unless you have NO intentions of buying the game you've supported annually for decades you're blowing hot air. As long as there's a basketball game in there somewhere I could care less. Unless its mandatory to play the slots in order to drive to the basket or I gotta lay down some coins to call a timeout for substitutions, what the hell is the REAL problem here. I've bought 2K & LIVE since day UNO. I hate myteam and mycareer and whatever that mode is on LIVE, but guess what...I dont touch them. Ironically I still enjoy the games just as much. You guys kno you really dont have to play those modes. I hate onions on my burgers. You kno what I do when they put them up there anyway. I take them off. Yeah yeah yeah ,"burgers aren't $60-"$100". Well guess what else I dint do? Spend $100 on a damn game. Stop the madness people. It's sad. Either actually dont buy the game or be honest with yourself...

The crowd that follows Angry Joe is not the same crowd that buys NBA 2K. He doesn’t even review sports titles. He gave his subscribers a bad guy to be angry at and they spammed the dislike button. If you think the 2K community has anything to do with it, you’re fooling yourself.
It's an admission based off their reaction. If they weren't guilty they'd have kept the video up regardless of dislikes and made another video detailing how it works but even then, this is not about money being used but the image of what the UI system stands for and the potential psychological effects it'll have on people and kids despite being a Basketball game.

You're absolutely wrong if you think the people who follow Joe Vargas is not the same people who plays NBA2k games. He doesn't have to review sports games to talk about features of a game. He was aired on a news channel fighting against these politicians blaming video games for violence, what exactly have you done or anyone here have done to fight against wrongful actions?

Face it, Vargas has wide reach and in some cases has ALOT influence to draw attention to problems needing to be talked about. Joe was also one of the few who broke the story on the horrible EA acts with Battlefront 2 and we finally, as consumers, got major headway in dealing with these publishers doing shady acts with adding features that are major problems. This is simply more of the same thing that needs to be addressed and until 2k is brought down to earth and are prevented from doing these things, they'll continue doing it and you guys will continue making excuses. They could have chosen a basketball being shot into a hoop to determine your award being shown or a basketball exploding similarly to the MyNBA2k phone app, but no they chose a UI of something that's for adults: Slot Machines / Pachinkos / Casino Roulette Wheel. smh

The 2k community are the ones who aren't happy about this though, it isn't just Joe's subscribers, that video had over 20k dislikes before it was pulled down off youtube. Face it, you guys are not in the right when it comes to this specific situation. Corporations, publishers must all be held accountable for if or when they do something beyond foolish that will harm people or even the industry as a whole. I get the fact they love money everyone does, and I also know they're capitalists too but unfortunately there's boundaries that should not be crossed when you're in a business to make money let alone a video game solely based off Basketball.

Why dont you understand that the people like me who are in this thread are only a fraction of the people who recognize this issue? With your logic, someone has to be on the front lines of the war in order to be apart of the battle. That's not how it works my man. There are only about 8 guys in here who you would consider "fake outraged". There are hundreds of thousands of people outside of OS who are actively representing the same stance while taking a front line approach. You're acting like OS is the front page of world change. Nothing you or I say in these threads is going to affect this battle. So for as fake outraged as you say we are, you've invested at least 10 minutes of your life to the same discussion. So if you or anyone else think we are "fake outraged", speak with your silence and ignore us.

You get reward cards for doing things in game

5 games with 20 points, 5 assists and 3 blocks in mycareer, you get a ruby Klay Thomson

win 100 MyTeam games by more than 5+ points, you get a Diamond Lebron.

Boom.

You remove any compulsion to gamble while still rewarding players for engaging the game, and allow people who play the game to have full reign on the auction house.

I know those don't involve betting but they are being used in a way that is common among F2P games. Cold Snap linked a pretty good video that goes over some of it but I doubt some of yall even watch it a little.

Also, the difference between Sonic using those (and I can't believe yall used that as an argument lol) is that that was one off, inconsequential after thought in a game from the 90's. Loot boxes and the games that use them today are a completely different beast as they are, like I said, designed deliberately and intentionally to be psychologically addictive to squeeze money out of people.

So even though some people don't care about others being addicted or wasting a extra money they should atleast care that 2k makes the grind that much more grueling.

You here are admitting that the grind, which is intentionally grueling, is too much of a burden and you'd be willing to pay to skip it. Hint: it's designed that way. Someone might grind one year or two but every subsequent year the urge to just skip it for a few extra dollars becomes more and more tempting as the grind becomes more and more grueling. It's designed to be grueling to get people to pony up some money. It's similar with MyTeam being designed like every F2P game to get more money out of people.

I know people want to defend 2k here because of Mike, DaCzar and the rest of the devs seem like good guys but come on. I swear some of you are being deliberately obtuse.
2k put an unskipable ad in their 60$ priced game 2 months ago and boys are still out here talking bout "but the good guys...." lol

I play myteam and i was disgusted by this trailer

between lsk and cash tap dancing and bad acting, the awful triple threat court and the casino vibe.... it was too much

And im glad some people are speaking about it cause i know damn well, knowing their track record, that 2k would've add a "pay x amount of mt to get another spin" feature in one of their stealth update.
