I do agree with you though. If the NBA 2K11 servers were still up, I would be playing that game right now online.
Hop Steps were extremely cheesy. I like how 2k12 and 2k13 made them apart of your layup animation where you had to read the defense to make either a spin layup, hop step lay up, or euro step lay up. You can't just come down and do hop steps or your guys will lose the ball. In 2k11, I could hop step in the paint and do layups all day through a 2-3 defense.

2k11 was good, but 2k13 is better. I just want my crew back and to be able to block dunks more often with a few other tweaks.

I think this is only for xbox but you can still play 2k11 quick ranked matches but only quick ranked games. no lobby, league games etc...

I have been playing alot of 2k11 online recently.

You're right. Hop stepping was mad annoying. But man, think if crew was in 2K13...People would be doing that eurostep 3 all game, won't be able to block 99 rated players dunks. That's just a few things, the contact in the paint is just too weak. 2K11 was perfect for crew besides the spin dunk and hop step and of course, the hacked players.

This thread was built for a flame war.

I don't understand why people make threads that they know will start controversy, yet go ahead and do it anyway. It's trolling in a sense.

True...but it doesn't matter. Whenever they bring back crew there will always be glitches, cheats, hacks, and exploits to take advantage of. I'd take the 90 pct of good and clean games compared to the rare games where people decide to glitch. If some group of kids decide they need to glitch in order to win in an online sports team game then the joke is on them...Maybe if kids like that put some effort into playing school sports or something real then we wouldn't be the fattest country lol.

Well I am going to go finish my pizza....peace out guys.

Re: 2K11...Refreshing

I don't think I did a very good job of explaining my original intent of this thread, so I'll try to explain here. I love this forum, and most of the banter back and forth is constructive and mostly fun. It's a good place to banter about our favorite games, sports games of course. In no way was I trying to start a flame war, but may have done that unintentionally.

Anyway, the point was that 2K11 is still considered by many to be the king of 2K basketball games. And even after playing the much flashier 2K13, when putting in 2K11 (a 3 year old game) I am still amazed by the in game experience.

For example, I played another game last night and was struggling the entire game against the Nets (I'm playing with the Suns). The combination of Williams, Wallace and Johnson was eating me up cutting through the lane and back door cuts. After trying man, 2-3 and 3-2 zone defensive combinations the entire game (and trailing the entire game by 4-10 points, I switched to a 1-3-1 with 8 minutes to go in the 4th to try to cross them up. And what do you know, they kept trying to cut through the lane and attempted the same passes but the lane was clogged and I started getting some turnovers. My offense built off that momentum, I locked them down on D and rallied to win the game. Now many might say, big deal dude. But the ability to implement a different strategy and see it work and radically change the flow and outcome of the game is something that seemed to be consistently possible in 2K11. How often does cheese and glitch trump strategy in 2K13? Most of the damn time I would argue.

The point of all this is to keep banging the drum that 2K has all the components in place to put out the BEST basketball game ever, but for some reason has strayed from what many would call a very succesfull starting point. 2K11 was a great starting point (not perfect by any means), but 2K12 and 2K13 seemed to stray of the path. They feel like different games and that should not have happened. My hope is that 2K can get back to the basics, that is building a basketball game from the ground up where solid game play is at the core of the experince. Then surround it with some flash and style to complete the picture. 2K14 can be that game, but I hope they remember that players play the game for solid game play not flash, cheese and glitch.
