mudtiger 360 2011 slider log

Hard to believe it is already time again. I'll be doing this like I've done every year. When I'm happy I'll probably start an online dynasty by myself to see what the dynasty wire thing can do.

If you are interested, you can check out last year's thread for how this is gonna work.
http://www.operationsports.com/vBull...lider-log.html

Same caveats apply as always and my goals are summed up fine from last year with a few extra comments:

To sum it up, this is a log for me so I can keep track of slider changes, kick ideas around, and maybe toss out some complaints about the game. Feel free to post suggestions about slider changes/ideas/etc or games you've played using these. Please post stats if you do try these and comment.

I'll start on AA, but as in previous years I may give varsity or heisman a try if I get frustrated with AA.

Goals: I want to hit something close to the real life average number of plays per game for Army games - 55-65+ (Army had about 62, opp about 60 in 2009) per team, but not have games drag on or have scores inflated. I want to hit something close to the real life average yards per run and pass for both human and the cpu over the course of a season.

I want games to be challenging for me playing as Army (yeah I'm making the switch from Air Force to Army because I like building up a lowly team and AF looks to have some decent ratings this year) so if I'm winning too many games as Army no matter what the stats look like, I'll continue tinkering.

I play anywhere from 9-11 minute quarters. Please don't post here and moan about that being too long. If you don't like it, don't play quarters that long. I don't care. I'll play whatever quarter length it takes to hit 55-65 plays per game without speed calling plays.

I run the option. Tuning the passing game for me means upping incompletions so I struggle to hit 50-55%. Most years this means lowering the catch slider so I don't have to gimp the qb's arm. Most people don't like this, that's cool. I don't mind a few extra drops to keep qb completion % down for human and cpu, others do mind.

Year to year, the usual way this goes is trying to find a way to make the cpu more effective running the ball while decreasing their passing ability. I generally up penalties and lower special teams accuracy sliders.

I generally like to play 3 to 5+ games and look at average stats when making changes to sliders. I'm trying to tune for averages, not game to game...but sometimes you just have to fly by the seat of your pants.

I only play as a LB or safety on defense and generally never switch during plays or during the game. If I start the game as the FS, that is who I am the whole game.

Some basic numbers I'll be looking at from army 2009 found below. I'll also look at previous year stats to get an idea of averages from year to year. I'm not looking to recreate last year, but the numbers serve as a good guide.

I've the same goals as you, want to find a way to get the accurate plays run without scoring being overblown.

Re: mudtiger 360 2011 slider log

2 things I don't like already. They took away the ability to push both bumpers after a play to go right to a replay. I always use that when tweaking to examine a play. Number 2, I think I see one play added to army's playbook over last year. I was expecting some counter option plays.

A bonus third gripe. I'm rushed to pick a play on defense. It's bad enough the CPU snaps the ball with 15-20 seconds on the playclock, but why should I have to race through the playbook on D? An extra 3 seconds would probably be enough.

And a positive - running the option is fun. You really have to key in on your read at the snap and make a quick choice on giving to the FB or not. Whether it is a 100% realistic read for the triple option is debatable, but at least there now is a read for keeping or giving to the FB.

I'm having fun just running various option plays in practice over and over.

I agree, running the option is great. Unfortunately, I played an Army Navy game and Army couldn't run the ball at all on me (All-American). I played against Wisconsin with Michigan State and they ran all over me, so I'm not sure what to think as of right now.
