Given how actively and demonstrably plugged in Matt Brown has been covering this game (with respect to EA Sports, the players, the schools, and everything else around it), I would argue he himself is the credible source.

Thought that just crossed my mind just now...if EA is desiring to pay all players to be in the game, and each school has 85 scholarship players, then we should be getting 85 man rosters right??

85 man rosters should be the expectation. There is no hardware limitation with modern consoles that would make getting to 85 too difficult to pursue. If we don't have 85 man rosters when the game releases, then it will be because EA decided to go that route for whatever reason, but it won't be because of the consoles themselves like it was in the past.

I can't see EA paying guys to not have them in the game. I also can't see guys who are at the bottom of the depth chart not opting in order to get whatever amount of flat money EA decides to pay.

I *think* you misheard Matt, I believe he says "in the summer of 2024", but he says it so fast it sounds like "December of 2024".

Source directly from EA/ESPN.

You are correct. I was in artillery in Vietnam and my ears ring like a smoke alarm. Sounded like December 24 to me but listening again it's summer 24.
