So the devs have come out and said that this will be a gender neutral game. There will no gender option in the game, they removed it after feedback from the demo select people were able to play.

This is actually not the case at all to my understanding. They have actually added options to BE gender neutral but you may still create a male or female character. So the have not removed anything, they have just added options.

Edit: I have not watched the whole video because I am at work. So if it is inappropriate could a mod take it down please.

People can of course still make the exact character that they want to make in the game, nothing has been taken away from them, but for some folks it seems that other people, in their own private game, now being able to make the exact character that they want to as well, seems to be a bridge too far.
