Definitely Watch Dogs 2. I was hyped after the first one. Got the gold edition and everything. One of the few games that I actually regret buying. Along with BFV. But we'll see if Firestorm makes that any better.

The Sony exclusives... I bought a PS4 for the sole reason of playing the exclusives I can't play on my XBOX (my primary console 85% of the time).

Uncharted 1-3 (I have not played 4) - A chore. Kept pushing through these by telling myself "I have to be missing something, everyone else loves them so something must be wrong with me." Enjoyed the Tomb Raider re-boot trilogy way more.

Horizon Zero Dawn - I've tried 2 or 3 times to get into this game. Each time I stop about 5 hours in. I really can't tell you what is bothering me about it. I hold out hope the next time is the time it will click.

The Last of Us - Liked it, didn't love it.

In NO way am I trying to start a console war. As I said, I bought the PS4 to enjoy/love the exclusives.

For me it's Mafia 3.
Highly anticipated but in the end disappointing.

Love the setting, the cars and the music. Gameplay is not bad either.
The real bad thing about it : all missions are basically the same.

Go there, kill somebody or steal something, repeat.

I stopped playing and started again recently after more then a year, just to finish it, but got the same feeling again : too much of the same.

I can feel you on this one. I did end up beating and completing the main game (never got around to the DLC) on Xbox One, but when I got Mafia 3 for the PS4 (either as a PS+ game or super ridiculously cheap on sale, I forget), I just couldn't find the desire to start a new game of it and play it on the PS4. I've still got it installed and maybe some day I'll get around to playing the story again so I can beat it on PS4, but right now, I just don't really want to go through the campaign all over again just because it's a different system.

I had fun, I enjoyed it on the Xbox One when it first released, the setting and music were great, I even enjoyed the plot of the story and the gameplay/gunplay, but like you said, it just gets repetitive after a while.

Theres just something about Horizon though that I just can't get with. I was the same way with Zelda BOW initially, but after sinking some time into it I began to realize how amazing it was.

I've actually heard that more than a few times about Horizon Zero Dawn. So you're not alone there.

Left 4 dead 1 and 2. All the HYPE around them I thought they be good.

Purchased them and I still consider the series to be the most linear, base gameplay, overrated series I have played too date.

I knew going in it was a well received game that many said could be the GOAT, but I just feel that the game was average at its very best.
I felt the story in the game was very simple, and the relationship itself wasn't "unique" in any fashion, but the characters were so well portrayed, and I loved the nuances of their interactions--how things like their differing experiences of life (since Ellie grew up post cordyceps, but Joel remembered the old world) conditioned them to process their hopes for life and the relationship in different ways.

Re: Games you thought were good but really...weren't

The thread title had me thinking this was for those games which we really enjoyed, but weren't well received. It's kind of been the exact opposite.

Using the first definition I think I'd go with Final Fantasy VIII. It was a critical let down after the success of Final Fantasy 7, but it's probably my favorite game of the series. The heavy emphasis on a great story and the individual characters of that story make me forgive the illogical magic system.

Using the ladder definition that is more common in this thread...that's a tough one. I can't really think of a game that received a lot of praise that I just hated. I'd say maybe something like GTA V, which although it was a solid game with many things to do, I just never felt like it was worthy of the hype.
