I doubt you will be lost, but you will miss all the easter eggs and other little things that even mild HP fans would appreciate.

Sounds like a good reason to at the very least watch the movies. They start out kiddy/cheesy, but get darker and darker. Even going from PG up to PG-13.

State of Play today revealed a PlayStation exclusive quest, The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop.



We also got a short explanation for the Felix Felicis potion in-game (the good luck potion). It will reveal gear chests on the mini-map for one full in-game day.

Does anyone know how/why the character is suddenly at Hogwarts? I've seen a few different theories, and one today that said it was confirmed that the character went through their entire life without knowing magic. I have not been able to confirm that as I have looked around, but I haven't watched any of the extended reveals.

Just curious if anyone has seen anything that verified the character origin? I'll admit that the above is what I expected and feared, but I just have not been able to confirm.

If I remember correctly, they mostly gloss over the point, but allude to there being a bit of a mystery as to why you’re just showing up as a year 5 student.

My guess is that there’s probably an important chunk of the story pertaining to this, and going into it would reveal a little more than they’re comfortable spoiling.

Based on what I've seen (and I watch a LOT of videos about this game), and the way I understand the info available, it appears that maybe your character didn't know they were magic until they were 15, when they began to exhibit signs of what has only been described as some "ancient magic"
