Re: OS Champions Rules and Discussion Thread

Commish or Commish by committee is really all thats left to decide, and the 4th down thing

I just think it should be a black and white rule, even if its something as vague as just past the 50 then at least I know Im not being cheated, even tho I dont like that one lol... I think losing in the 4th quarter down by whatever you should be able to go for it tho

It's all dependent on the situation.

How much time is left?
How much am I up by?
How many timeouts does my opponent have left?
How well has my opponent been moving the ball?
Can I trust my defense to secure the game for me?

Other Ppl may have different questions that they may ask about that example. There's always more to it than just oh it's 4th and 5 in the 4th quarter, better punt.

well if Im up and I just want to go for it then I can literally answer all of those questions with whatever justifies me going for it.. you've only scored 6 points all game but idk if I can stop you so Im going for it, its only 37 seconds left but crazy things happen in college football so Im going for it, you only have 1 timeout left but if you get 2 30 yard passes back to back youre in fg range and call your timeout so Im going for it.. thats all Im saying

But idc what we decide I'll follow whatever rule y'all decide on. Just want to start this thing.
I'm good with using supporters 4th down rule and allowing fake punts and fake fg's. I'm just saying we need some kind of rule for 4th down.

You didn't answer "How much you're up by?"

im up by 3, you might score a td next drive so Im going for it.. im up by 4, you might tie it with a td so Im going for it.. im up by 5, you might score a td and get the 2 point conversion, I need a tf not a fg so im going for it.. im up by 7 but I just want to seal the game so Im going for it.. im up 10 and 13 would mean 2 tds beats me so Im going for it

the number is irrelevant

Re: OS Champions Rules and Discussion Thread

the 4th down rule needs to be clearly defined with similarly clear expectations on what is kosher and what's not. Ex post facto justification isn't good enough.

There are too many money plays/easy yardage plays to give any of the excellent players in this league an extra down to get the required 10 yards. With Alabama's stacked depth chart, I will probably have more turnovers than punts if this is the rule. That sound realistic to anyone?

Up by 4 I'm kicking FG. Up by 5 I'm kicking the FG everything higher than than I'm always kicking the FG. I would rather play you in OT (win or lose) and say it was a GG.

Now the scenario with up by 3 is completely different. If they score a TD on me the game is over and I lose. Can't risk that so I'm going for it. Maybe I'm an a-hole for that but can't nobody tell me I'm lobby for doing that or trying to cheat somebody...well maybe the person I did it to and they're just mad they lost, but not everyone that's hears my scenario.
