What is the dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say?

Hmmm... I'd have to say Asking loudly at a church what's a prophylactic.

This is a true story.

At my cousins wedding, we were discussing decorating the newlyweds car, and I told another cousin that we needed to get some prophylactics for it. My grandmother (Betty) overheard, and started asking what a prophylactic was. The grandkids (me and my cousins) were smiling, and started to laugh as she continued to ask but we wouldn't tell. About that time the preacher came in, and she turned to him and said 'Pastor, what's a prophylactic?'. The pastor turned to her and shaking his head said 'It's a Condom Betty'. Grandma just stared at him for a moment, then turned around and left the room. We just died laughing! lol

To this day she claims it's the most embarrasing thing she's ever done. (IMHO she got off easy if that's it!)

That's much worse than when I was a kid, I asked my Mom what masturbate meant because I heard Joe Montana say it on SNL.

lol But did you do it in front of others? That would have been priceless! Ask mom what it was in the store or something.

I guess my Grandma's isn't so much dumb, as it was embarrassing. Still one of the funniest moments I can remember. Funny thing was, we weren't saying anything because we thought it was funny, none of the grand kids wanted to tell their grandma that it was another name for a condom.

No there was no one else around. Just my Mother and I in a classic "Mom I have a question for you" moment. My Mom was also, a Sunday School teacher at the time so, that helped add to the awkwardness.
