Even grocery shopping. I find people thinking paying more is better. You paid $5 for pasta sauce? I paid half that. Same brand. Even produce, sure some chains might get "higher quality" produce, but at the end of the day an apple is an apple.

Not about being cheap, there's times where higher prices are better for basic items, but getting best items for best price is better. People look down on "discount grocery stores", but that chain has most of the same brands at half the price. Does a $3 box of cheerios taste different than the $7 box at your premium store?
I buy my clothes at Walmart. Jeans $20.00 , T-shirts $9.00 , Sneakers $23.00 I have two suits that I spent $1,000.00 for the pair for weddings , funerals and such. My everyday clothes I spend as little as possible. Even $500.00 a suit some would say is nothing , I think it's ridiculous but my wife wouldn't allow me to spend less on them.

Grocery shopping our store is called Hannafords , they have their own brands of several items , I always by their brands , less money taste the same.

Even with my drum kit I could have spent $8,000.00 on a DW kit but instead I went with their lower line PDP , got twice the size of a kit for a fraction of the cost. I still have great sounding maple shells it's just Asian maple instead of north American maple. I can get just as good a sound out of them.

I guess some people need that brand name on their things to get through the day. If I were a millionaire I'd be the same except I'd have a newer home and a nicer car. My home was built in the 1800's and my Jeep is a 2006.

Re: Uncommon Opinions

I just don't like the way most of Wal-Mart's clothing brands fit and I hate how uncomfortable it is to shop and browse there. You also have to run down someone two departments over just to get them to find someone else who knows a guy who has a key to the changing room. Also they really aren't as cheap as they once were.. I can get the pants I really want by waiting on a clearance/season sale or even places like Ross and TJ Maxx have similar prices.

I'm definitely not a clothing snob though. We go thrift store shopping every few months. I found a pretty sweet Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl XXXVII t-shirt a few months ago that I love.

Re: Uncommon Opinions

In my experience there is definitely a difference between brands and cost. Sure, some things bank on their name, but most of the time the extra money will get you better quality.

Re: Uncommon Opinions

There's definitely a difference between brands and cost. That's not to say that all t-shirts in Wal Mart or wherever are bad, if it's something you like and it's comfortable, then who cares? Just from my experience sometimes shirts that costs less will have like a stiff collar or the button will line up weirdly or more expensive t-shirts will be have a much better, softer, more comfortable feel than cheaper t-shirts.

Right now I pretty much wear button up short sleeve shirts 75-80% of the time. Yeah, I could probably get one of those shirts at Wal-mart and if I saw one that I liked, it fit well, was well made, and comfortable then I might buy it but most of the time, for me, it's doesn't have all of those things.

With that said, I'm definitely reasonable about things. Luckily, there's an outlet mall that's 15 minutes away from my house so I can usually find what I want there for decent prices. Heck, most of the time the have fairly new stuff and it's at least 40% off so you can get good, quality clothes for a decent price. There's definitely limit for me. We were at the mall the other day and we're coming down the escalator at Dillards and I saw some sweet Hawaiian shirts but once I saw the price they weren't so sweet. $120 for a shirt is too rich for my blood, especially when I can go to J Crew at the outlet mall and get them for $20-25 when they're having a sale.

I don't want to be come off as a clothing snob but next time you're in a mall go look at the clothes and shoes in Sears and compare them to the clothes and shoes in Dillards, then tell me there's not a difference in quality.

Some of the cheap stuff is just fine. But you can't get mad when the seams start coming apart on a $5 shirt after 3 washes. It's a crapshoot.

My MIL shops at outlets and places like TJ Maxx/Home Goods and finds a lot of deals and things on clearance.

I’ve gotten tons of name brand clothing at Marshall’s (the more casual version of TJ Maxx). Got some FILA socks there years and years ago and those bad boys are still 1) around and 2) in good condition.

I get a decent amount of clothing at Target too. Otherwise, Old Navy has like $10 jeans once a year. I’m just not around people who will judge me out loud for my clothing. Unless it’s looking raggedy. We’re ruthless when it’s flagrant. Lol
