Funny that you made this topic. We are meeting with the SBA in the next couple weeks for a consultation. Me and a partner are getting everything together for opening a business. Currently, I've been focusing on writing our business plan.

Now from a financing standpoint we are good, we already have the necessary funds to support the business for 1 year.

So I'm currently head first into the process so I'll be able to give first hand account of what transpires.

I've considered consulting of some sort and a girl I work with sounds like she could be on board as a partner/associate down the line when her kids are older. Won't be a "right now" thing, but even a few years from now, I might still be under 30 and have my own side business at least.

Probably not the relevant experience you are looking for because it's not my full-time job, however (and it's none of my partners' respective full-time jobs, either). Also I'm not in on the business side of things as much as I am a lead developer, anyway.

My dad, mom, girlfriend and in the middle of construction of a 24 room resort in El Nido Philippines. We've setup a corporation and I'm the CEO.

We aren't technically up and running yet so I can't really talk about the business side yet other than setting up the business, planning, construction and dealing with the employees with construction.

I won't sugar coat it, it's hard as hell but I love it. The dream is too big that we can't quit. Gave up my life in the AZ, left my dogs to my sister, sold my house and quit my job to pursue it.

Anyway, before thinking of it, read a couple business books to see if you are up to it and do as much research as you can to see if you have a viable market for your service or product.
