Re: (Japan) Power Pro 2010 announced for PS3/PSP

here is another Famitsu update

http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1236318_1407.html

this time they are detailing the new Pennant Mode Card System. for example, some cards will permanently increase the ability of your players, some will boost your team's speed/power/others for 1 game only, some will allow you to trade or add foreigners to your team, some will allow you to add new skills or pitches during spring traininng, and so on. a bit gimmicky and video-game-ish in my opinion, i think i prefer traditional and realistic methods like training rather than using cards.

Thanks for the info MukaMuka. I don't really like the new card system idea but I will remain positive until I hear more about it.

Yeah the card thing can just be ignored if we don't like it, no biggie. I am still waiting to see some gameplay video however. That will likely determine my purchase. it's coming out in less than a month and they still haven't shown us much...i am not very optimistic.

It have been kinda slow with info this time. The gameplay video will hopefully do better then these last year. I think it was 14 or 15 trailer that only showed batters hitting the ball and not one called strike/swinging strike was showed through the whole trailer and I knew that getting a strikeout in that game would be nothing short of a miracle though 57 pitches perfect games could be quite likely. This year I remain positive about it since they seem aware that the game series state have been really bad these last years and they are working on improving it though that my just be wishful thinking on my part.

first gameplay clips can be seen in the official trailer now:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxNG9BmBiOU

and some really bad news. the ball speed is really really slow. the first clip they show is Darvish throwing a really slow fastball (??) and Ogasawa hitting it for a homerun. then a bit later you will see some more pitches thrown and again they look very slow. the homerun camera angles look very similar to last year's Power Pro Next on Wii. my hopes for the game has sunk to an all time low but i will keep my hopes alive until i hear actual play impression from the guys here

That was quite an unimpressive trailer. The pitch speed seems very similar to the three last games in the series but atleast they showed some swinging strikes. Was it just my impression that Pawapuro team haven't learned at all from the recent failures? Though the animations for fielding was really cool and success looked fun.

Even though the trailer didn't impressive me I still hold a little hope for this to be a good game just that the pawapuro team have no idea how to make a good trailer. Thanks for the link MukaMuka.

whats really scary in the trailer is when you look at Darvish's stat during his encounter in the opening scene...he has 0 K's and it is the 9th inning! i sure hope that is just a random scene put together for the trailer and is not supposed to be representative of the actual gameplay
