NFL Gameday Appreciation Thread

Truly one of the most underrated franchises in the history of sports video gaming. I came on the later end of the Tecmo Bowl age and Madden for the SNES were good, not spectacular games though.

NFL Gameday '97 was the first NFL I truly fell in love with, however. I loved playing with Jerry Rice, Steve Young, and the Niners. It was the first game I remember where you could truly seperate your passing attack. The series suffered when it upgraded to the PS2, but given the success of The Show, I think it could have made a run at the 2K and Madden games for Next Gen NFL supremacy.

Any memories, complaints, stories about the game....I have a couple of good ones to share later on.

I loved every PS1 Gameday, 99 is my favorite by far.

Great series, i never got into it when it jumped to the PS2 however. But PS1 games were some of the best ive fun ive ever had with a video game.

My best memory was playing as the Vikings with my friend and on a kick off return he managed to bllow out his hamstring (hated that injury) and he still ran all the way down the sideline for a TD.

I do remember being frustrated when I'd throw a deep route, take control of my receiver, and before the ball would hit the ground he'd turn back around and jog towards the huddle.

99 was my favorite as well. Dick Enberg and Phil Simms calling the games if I recall correctly.

My favorite was Gameday 98. The graphics, anaimation, Total Control Passing, and control made this game my favorite of all time. This game was a few years ahead of its time.

I loved the early years of the series on the PS1 as well. I remember the website called something like gameday stratigies that was mainly a forum for people to talk about the game and how they played it. Man those where the days. I can remember the juke move back in the 99 version I believe that you good do all the way down the field and not get tackled.
