Ok. Has Madden gotten that bad, that people are willing to play the game without any kind of NFL licensing? I'm by no means a Madden fan boy,it's hard for me to play a football video game without real NFL teams and players, sorry I just can't get into generic players and teams,it's just me,but apparently there fans out there that are willing to do that. It's your choice and it's your right to play the game you choose! Like I've said before, until EA looses the exclusive NFL license or the NFL decides to no longer give exclusive licenses out,it's going to be EA and any publisher that creates a football video game, they aren't going to be able to compete with EA because of the exclusive license deal. Wether anybody wants to admit it or not,if you had a choice between playing a game with the exclusive NFL and real player likenesses and playing a game without, most people would pick the latter! Do I wish more companies could make NFL games heck yeah! I'm all for it,and I hope one day that happens! I'm tired of just one NFL video game to play, the industry needs more NFL games and give players more choices. I'm not a fan of the exclusive license deals and never have been,I predicted long ago when the whole exclusive license thing started it would hurt the sports video industry and it has! All it has done is make a huge monopoly and all it does is hurt us as the consumers. I miss the days when you had choices. Competition only does good things! As the consumer it's a win win for us!

The NFL license means absolutely ZERO to me. In fact, I'd prefer a football game that allows me to completely customize EVERYTHING.

I couldn't care less about the NFL license. Sure, I'd like to have it, but if not, I wouldn't bother me the least bit. Let's put it this way: If JMF16 is on console WITHOUT an NFL license and is the same exact price as Madden, I'm buying JMF16. Honestly, I'd pay more for a non-licensed JMF16 game that's built around SIM rather than pay $25 for Madden as is today. The end.

Regardless of how good/bad madden 16s features sound, if JFK16 is announced as a console game then I'm preordering that same day. Damon Grows tweets about 2k5 have already convinced me they are making a type of game I want to play.

Good or bad, license or not, I'm hoping this game gets a few development cycles to really see what it can deliver.

Same here. If it's console and/or PC, it's an automatic instant buy for me.

The NFL license is overrated! I will buy/support any game that takes money out of EAs pocket just out of spite! I dont play mobile games but would buy it for my nephew. Its nice to have a custom game to load NFL rosters into but just to have a fresh real game of football would help me get over this 10yr hangover! Real football heads like me know that "other" game is not a true 2015 football experience so eventually some smart guy will be sitting on his toilet (just after he put that "other" game in it) doing his business and think oh maybe I should put out a real football sim and this guy will become very rich!

Can you elaborate more on this so I can understand exactly what you mean? I have a similar POV to this, with the exception that I don't care whether the NFL branding is "official" or not, meaning as long as NFL branding is possible through customization/community file share, I'm good. Something seems to get lost in translation when referring to a "generic" football game, where some seem to envision some featureless game with customization. With generic, I envision a complete football game, feature filled like NBA2k, The Show, Madden, NFL2k, FIFA, etc BUT no official league branding/team-player names.

The gaming community can recreate NFL branding, we just need a company to create a complete football game. I still remember the days before NFL licensing when teams names were simply cities/states and players were just jersey numbers, I'd be fine with that or some variation of it, as long as the customization is there to change it as we see fit.

Imo, any gamer that's not willing to simply download a preferred community share/roster file, similar to NCAA Football, to add branding to an otherwise complete fully featured sim football game, aren't the type of gamers said football game should be targeting.

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: A Mysterious Game Remains Under Wraps

I followed and purchased Maximum Football (which was a disappointment), followed and purchased Backbreaker (which was a disappointment), followed Division Rivals for years (which stopped development before finishing). Will I be open to another football game? Of course. Won't get my hopes up until there is something tangible. But options are always a good thing. And another football game is not a negative and might end up being a positive.

I'm with Big. I don't need an official NFL license. Just make things completely customizable. Make everything editable. Make both the on field and off field as realistic as reasonably possible. Man, I'm willing to give any football game a chance, no matter the developer.
