Scannell had a hat trick of penalty kicks in Crystal Palace's 4-1 victory over Charlton Athletic. Charlton Athletic was out of position in the box the whole game, forcing them to try desperate tackles that led to penalty kicks for the Eagles. Williams added the topper in the 90th minute to lead Crystal Palace to a 4-1 win. With a win and a Bolton loss Crystal Palace will win the league. With a draw or loss in the next match Crystal Palace could see themselves in the playoffs and out of automatic promotion.

There was plenty on the line for both clubs in the final match of the season. Sheffield United would stay in the Championship with a point, while Crystal Palace could clinch promotion or even the league title with a win. Crystal Palace unleashed a flurry of shots at Sheffield United, but could only break through with one. It was all that mattered as Crystal Palace punched their ticket to the Premier League.
Bolton defeated Millwall 2-1 to win the league. Sheffield United will stay in the nPower Championship despite the loss.

2013-14 Barclay's Premier League Preview

Season Prediction
1 Arsenal
2 Manchester City
3 Chelsea
4 Manchester United
5 Liverpool
6 Tottenham Hotspur
7 Newcastle
8 Everton
9 Fulham
10 West Bromwich Albion
11 Sunderland
12 Norwich City
13 Stoke City
14 Swansea City
15 Wigan Athletic
16 Aston Villa
17 Queens Park Rangers
18 Bolton
19 Crystal Palace
20 Nottingham Forest

Crystal Palace Preview
Crystal Palace enters the Premier League for the first time since the 2004-05 season, where they missed out of staying in the top tier by one point.

Palace will struggle to stay out of the bottom three, as they need major improvements in attack, midfield, defense and goal keeper.

John Smith will start the season in goal for Crystal Palace, however it is questionable how long he will stay in England. There are rumors that he would like to be sent to Italy or Germany. Smith denies the rumors, but that won't stop the speculation.

The Eagles may need to address a need at the LW position as well. Last season they played Scannell there, but he is still a better fit at the ST position. Glen Murray was on a tear last season leading the Championship in goals scored, but can he continue against much better competition?

Crystal Palace enters the season with not enough goal scoring and not enough defense, which is a bad proposition when trying to remain in the top tier. The funds from being in the Premier League may help shore up some positions, but they won't be enough to compete against the top clubs.

The Eagles must get points against the Nottinghams, Boltons, Wigans, and QPR's and limit damage against the Arsenals, Man U and Citys, Chelseas and Liverpools of the world in order to avoid relegation.

BEST CASE:
Crystal Palace is able to scrape points together and keep matches close. They finish in 14th and remain in the Premier League.

WORST CASE:
They look like Reading did last season in the Premier League; completely outclassed. They get 3 W's, Nottingham, Bolton, and Wigan all at home. Find 4 other draws and lose the rest for 13 points and a dead last finish.

Great job getting Palace back into the big time! Another stunner was Man U falling to 6th, has their domination come to an end? One more thing, when you started this, did you create a custom league or something?

I just moved the teams that were promoted & relegated in reality to where they were supposed to be. I did a playoff for each League (including Conference National) where I played one half on each team to determine the playoff winners (since the playoffs were yet to occur).

So I'm in my second season, but I'm treating it as 2013-14, so I have to adjust the dates of the games that I post to reflect 2013 rather than the 2012 that it is in the game.

One more interesting tidbit on Man U. Rooney has demanded a transfer! We'll see how that goes.

Gotcha, thats why the promoted teams on the whole played so poorly, they were set to play in a lower division. This season should see more balance. As for Rooney, rumors are swirling in my CM that PSG are after him.

Crystal Palace's Premier League season begins with a familiar foe. The Eagles struck quickly in their 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. The Forest didn't have a shot on goal and really struggled to control the ball. After Zaha's goal in the 14th minute there weren't many real chances for Crystal Palace either.
