That was one hell of a match and a good read. How old is Gareth Ainsworth?

He's 39...not much tread left on his tires!

No wonder why he's hanging up his boots at the end of the season. I just signed a 31 years old midfielder. I was a little bit worried about players retiring age.

npower League 2
Sat, Aug 25, 2012
Adams Park

Wycombe 1-3 Oxford United

34' Bruno Andrade (Dean Morgan) - WYC
40' Alfie Potter (Andy Whing) - OXF
45' Alfie Potter - OXF
70' Peter Levin (James Constable) - OXF

Alfie Potter celebrates his brace against Wycombe.

Wycombe Loses at Home to Winless Oxford United

Things were looking up when Bruno Andrade received a pass inside the 18 yard box from Dean Morgan. Andrade finished calmly just inside the near post. With both teams firing from all over, we were bound to find more goals as Oxford didn't take long to equalize and take the lead just before the stroke of halftime off the boot of Alfie Potter. For Potter, these were his first goals of the young season. An insurance goal was added in the 70th minute by Peter Levin who pushed it past an out of position Matt Ingram.

Yea Ainsworth is by far the oldest field player I've had on my squad in any managing position.

I'm trying to limit his playing time because as it is he is injury prone and at that old age I can only assume it is a matter of time before he takes a knock and is out for some time.

Looking at my last couple games, this is going to be a struggle to consistently win games with my squad. I need to find one more midfielder with pace before the transfer window closes...

I'm loving this manager mode more than any I've ever done before and I am just coming off an incredible Stuttgart season that I didn't put up here on OS

Re: The Chairboys of Wycombe (FIFA 13)

Well, you are off to a good start so far. Taking over a League 2 side is always fun and challenging. Good to know you are enjoying it. Keep the good work up and let me know of your future signings.

Capital One Cup Round 2
Tues, Aug 28, 2012
County Ground

Swindon Town 1-4 Wycombe

44' Juan Maresca (Gareth Ainsworth) - WYC
55' Juan Maresca (Dean Morgan) - WYC
71' Dean Morgan (Juan Maresca) - WYC
73' Simon Ferry (Adam Rooney) - SWI
90' Josh Scowen - WYC

Scowen's thundering strike was just the cherry on top for Wycombe.

Counter-attack Played With Brilliance

Coach Pfeifer went into the game with a couple changes to his lineup, but most interesting was his formation change. In switching to a 3-4-2-1 Wycombe was able to clog the middle of the field while finally denying the opposing flankers with free space down the wings. The counter-attack worked to perfection as Juan Maresca pounced on his first look at goal in the 43rd minute from Gareth Ainsworth. Maresca would send the traveling Wanderer supporters into a frenzy as he would blast the ball into the near upper corner. Out of the break, Maresca would find himself in front of goal again and slotted home his second of the match from Dean Morgan. Maresca would then return the favor, setting up Morgan on a beautifully unselfish through ball for a tap in goal in the 71st minute. Just two minutes later, Simon Ferry would remind the home fans of what could have been as he found the back of the net on a side footed shot from six yards out. Finally, just before the final whistle Josh Scowen would smash home his first goal of the season, putting an exclamation mark on the Capital One Cup Second Round match.

Re: The Chairboys of Wycombe (FIFA 13)

Deadline Day Approaches

Wycombe look to be buyers and loaners on Deadline Day. There are reports out of Wycombe that Coach Pfeifer is thinking of sending out 18 year old CAM Max Kretzschmar to find playing time elsewhere as he has seen very limited time with the Wanderers. He has one appearance this year and played well, but there is just no room for him this season. The young attacking midfielder has loads of potential and an attacking flair about him that should draw the interest of several clubs.

On the flip side, Wycombe are reportedly looking to solidify the midfield with a solid holding midfielder. There are four targets that Wycombe have in their sites with one serious offer on the table. The three players Wycombe have expressed interest in without sending an offer to are 25 year old Lorenzo Davids of Randers FC, 25 year old Yohan Betsch of Stade Lavallois, and 26 year old Ruben Zadkovich of Newcastle Jets. The player Wycombe are most interested in is Damien Plessis of AC Arles. Plessis is a strong, tough player that stands at 6'4", a height that could find himself on the end of many corners and crosses.
