Poor First Half Dooms Giallarossi To Second Straight Defeat

Udinese players converge following victory

First half goals from wing back Gabriel Silva and midfielder Allan allowed the home side just enough cushion to withstand a furious onslaught from the visitors in the second, as Udinese held on to defeat Roma by the score of 2-1 here at rainy Udine.
Very conservative throughout much of the early going, Udinese jumped in front late in the first half when a wonderfully placed aerial through ball from Emmanual Badu found the foot of a streaking Gabriel Silva who expertly volleyed it home for the 1-0 lead. Just six minutes later the Zebrette doubled their advantage when Dusan Basta's cross into the box was headed home by young Brazilian midfielder Allan for a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Down by two away from home, the situation looked bleak for Rudi Garcia's men, but a fantastically placed 23 yard strike from Kevin Strootman with just under and hour remaining cut Udinese's lead and half and set up a wild a wooly finish which saw the visitors hit the post, and also hit the crossbar, but in the end they never hit the back of the net as Udinese escaped with all three points.
Since starting the season with 5 wins and 2 draws in their first 7 games, Roma have now dropped two straight decisions, and with just two days off between now and Wednesday's match with lowly Chievo, Garcia must quickly right the ship to avoid any type of extended losing streak which in a league this competitive could all but doom his club before the new year.

Roma Recover To Pip Chievo At The Death

Marco Borriello's first goal of the year started Roma on the comeback trail

Winless in their last three and losers of two straight, Roma found themselves in a precarious situation when a Dodô own goal gave visiting Chievo Verona a shock 1-0 lead completely against the run of play with just over a half hour remaining, but Marco Borriello leveled things within a minute on a strike from close range before substitute Mattia Destro dramatically won it with a brilliantly taken chance in the 87th minute, giving the Giallarossi a thrilling 2-1 victory here at a cold and wet Stadio Olimpico. After the match manager Rudi Garcia lauded his club for not giving up, saying: "I'm really proud of the lads, they dug in their heels when the chips were down and continued to fight, even after they equalized they continued to relentlessly pursue victory, and in the end they got their reward."

Pjanic Stars For Roma

A brace from Miralem Pjanic spelled doom for Torino

Miralem Pjanic hit for a goal in each half as Roma moved back into the top four on Sunday with a convincing 2-0 victory over 16th placed Torino here at Stadio Olimpico di Torino in rainy Turin.
As dominant as any road team can be in this league, Roma grabbed the match by the scruff of the neck early on in this one and never let go, taking the lead in the 39th minute on Miralem Pjanic's first goal of the season, and salting it away in the 76th with Pjanic's second. It was a beautiful thing to watch for a Roma fan, smothering impenetrable defense, combined with patient and clinically ruthless offense, Rudi Garcia's men checked all the boxes, and in the end walked away the victors.

Giallorossi Survive Against Lowly Sassuolo

Daniele DeRossi, pure Roma

Facing winless and bottom of the table Sassuolo who are playing in their first ever Serie A season, 3rd placed Roma were given all that they could handle and then some, but in the end a wayward pass by Sassuolo right back Alessandro Longhi was intercepted by a streaking Marquinho who waltzed in on goal all alone before finishing in grand style, allowing Roma to escape with a hard fought 2-1 victory that increased the capital city club's winning streak to three games and improved their record to an impressive 8-2-2, good enough to pull them into a second place tie with AC Milan who were held on the road by Chievo Verona.

Just what I need, another top side!
I'm really happy with how we've gotten off the blocks, but the schedule has been very favorable. We need to do better against the top sides(Milan, Inter, Juventus, Fiorentina, Napoli, Lazio, and Udinese)

Cagliari and Roma Battle To A Scoreless Draw

Unable to capitalize on a few key chances in the early going, Roma were forced to settle for a scoreless draw with visiting Cagliari here at Stadio Olimpico.
The Giallarossi started the game quickly, nearly taking the lead within the first ten minutes when Francesco Totti's long range effort was denied by the crossbar.
From there it was the visitors who gained the front foot, carrying the play for the majority of the half, despite their dominance however they never really threatened the goal, and the clubs went into the break scoreless. The second half started with more of the same, as Roma struggled to gain a foothold in the match, that all changed however when a brillaintly played counter by Roma nearly put them in front against the run of play, but Gervinho's effort just glanced off the post and into the grateful arms of a diving Vlada Avramov.
Unnerved, the visitors backed off and it was Roma who put on the pressure, dominating play for the remainder of the match, but to their credit, Cagliari stayed strong, and escaped the Olimpico with a well deserved and much needed point.
