Re: Everton F.C. --- The Roberto Martinez era (FIFA 15)

Barclays Premier League
October 19, 2014
Old Trafford

Manchester United 0-0 Everton

Some matches that finish scoreless can be bland and have nothing to offer. This match at Old Trafford was far from that. Manchester United controlled much of the first half with Everton hanging on thanks to Tim Howard's 5 first half saves. The second half showed us what a great manager Roberto Martinez has been for Everton as they gave up three total shots with none on target. Everton had more of an attacking emphasis on the second half as opposed to the counter-attacking first half feel that kept them pinned back for much of the opening 45. In the end it finished all square with both teams picking up one point. Up next for Everton is a trip to Italy to play group leader Fiorentina who has taken all 6 points from their first two games.

Europa League
Matchday 3
October 23, 2014
Stadio Artemio Franchi

Fiorentina 0-3 Everton

31' Kevin Mirallas - EVE
40' Ross Barkley - EVE
90' +5 Darron Gibson - EVE

An early double yellow ejection changed this game from competitive to a yawner for Everton. Fiorentina were without one of their two star strikers (Mario Gomez), but were able to attack through Giusseppi Rossi at will in the opening stages of the match. Then it all came undone with a second yellow card given out to Stefan Savic in the 28th minute. It didn't take long for Everton to capitalize on the man advantage with 31st minute and 40th minute goals to go into the break up 2-0. More attacking in the second half led to a super goal in the closing seconds off a corner as Darron Gibson jumped and volleyed the ball into the top left corner of the goal to finish the game at 3-0. With the win Everton jump passed Fiorentina into first place in the group.

A contrast to real life with Southampton! I think you'll be well able to finish in the top 6.

Did you see where Arsenal sit?!?! All the way down in 14th. They already have 5 losses to their name. No kidding about Southampton...I watched them finish off Everton this afternoon. I'm assuming they'll pick it up at some point. Too good of a squad to go down. I expect the bottom 5 to remain relatively close with Southampton crawling their way out about Aston Villa, comfortably in 15th...leaving Aston Villa, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and Burnley left to fight for two spots. That's my prediction.

As for my squad...I just adjusted some sliders, so I'm interested to see how I fair against the Swans at home.
