Jays bring back former bench coach DeMarlo Hale in a similar role again.

He was a popular guy among the fans and players when he was here. Nice to have him back.

I know they moved Mattingly more into a hitting coach without being called a hitting coach type of role, but this just makes me feel like something else is up.

More signs point to Mattingly being signed elsewhere as a coach, but less likely alternative is Jays get rid of their hitting coach.

Cleveland DFAs Cal Quantrill?

Sure he had a bad 2023, but I don't think there'd be many teams not wanting him on their roster. If he has a repeat of 2023 then he'd be a 5th starter at best if even that.

If he pitches like he did basically any season but 2023, you have yourself a good mid rotation starter.
