Indians released Chris Perez and resigned Jason Giambi to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training.

Jays are in on Gordon Beckham and things sound like they're getting stupid.

I can see giving up one of those prospects but two? Anthopoulos would have to be insane to do that.

Also on the Jays front, they wisely picked up the option on Casey Janssen's contract.

You can see giving up one of Aaron Sanchez, Roberto Osuna, Marcus Stroman, John Stilson or AJ Jimenez for Gordon Beckham?

I would say that one of those first three guys for Beckham would be a fire-able offense and one of the last two would be a poor/mediocre trade. I absolutely can't "see" it.

There has to be a ~1 WAR second baseman out there somewhere that can be had for nothing but cash. It would be lunacy to give up anything of meaningful value for Backham.

Absolutely. Kelly Johnson, Brian Roberts, Mark Ellis and Nick Punto can all be reasonably projected to have more value than Beckham and will cost nothing but marginal amounts of moolah (marginal moolah, I like that :3 ). I'm still riding the Kolten Wong bandwagon, but if we don't want to make a major acquisition there any of those guys except maybe Punto are likely better than Beckham for less.

Our front office is really broken.

Fun to dream, more like Kozma from the Cardinals

Ellis had a pretty decent season over in LA, whoever is in need of a second baseman should probably look into him on the 1 year 3 million type of deal.
