As a method of strategy probably not but for the aesthetics of the game I'd like to see starters go deeper or at least the status quo before bullpenning became a thing.

It's not a huge problem in my mind but it's a preference on my part.

If you're gonna do the DH, that's at least creative. But no. I don't want any more "federally mandated" ****.

You know the Ray's and A's did it this year out of necessity and not by choice right?

Yes I know, but you can make the argument the Brewers did it by choice down the stretch and in the playoffs.

I'm sure both teams will scale back the usage of "The Opener" next year.

EDIT: Let me just add that like I said it isn't a big worry on my part just an aesthetic preference. Hell, I suggested on Reddit that Joe Biagini would be a good "Opener" for the Jays.

Re: MLB Off-Topic

The fact that it's out of necessity instead of choice tells me what I need to know about the long-term prospects of it as a strategy or "way of life."

Given the two, nobody's gonna "choose" that ****. It's unsustainable garbage and really quite annoying and repetitive to watch. Makes every game feel the exact same, all the people who complain about game lengths yet still tout it, etc.

Thoughts? I've never been a DH guy, but that would be an intriguing rule that would create a little bit of strategy in terms of when to relieve a starting pitcher.
A team with a DH like Edgar Martinez or David Ortiz has to decide if they double switch and put them in the field to keep their bat in the lineup. It's interesting at least...
Lipstick on a pig is my take on that proposal. I might just be too staunch of an "NL guy"

Re: MLB Off-Topic

It's the best proposal I've heard of all of them, but I'd just prefer the NL goes without the DH and the AL keeps it. Why mess with a good thing?

Re: MLB Off-Topic

So the answer to stopping us from sitting through the mockery of pitchers hitting would be to make it so that the pitchers who hit most often are now relievers who get even less at bats than starters? Big nope.
