It should be like 8 seconds, what kind of tomfoolery is this? After it happens, immediately go to the umpire to challenge or let it die. This waiting for the guys upstairs to confirm if the runner at 2nd base picked his heel up off the bag on a steal attempt goes against everything I wanted in replay.

Yep...I think that's pretty crazy how a suspended game like that impacts "official" stats. Bonds was called up end of May and had over 200 PA's (plus 10 HR's) by the time he took part in this game, but this single that he hit in this game is in the record books as his "first" hit and RBI.

I like the trivia question better if it's:

Which player picked up his first career hit after already having 50 (or whatever the count was) MLB hits to his credit?

I just know people would look at me like I'm stupid. And that's how I want my trivia.

Yup, the replay challenge is being miss-used because of the time allowed to look at tiny details. It was supposed to be there to get rid of shockers, not to find that some guy beat the throw but happened to leave the base by a milometer for a nanosecond while being tagged. It just wastes a bunch of time and slows the game right down, to give people out on technicalities, rather than actually get rid of the occasional bad decision that instantly you can see was wrong.

Isn't it already 20 seconds?

But yes, it should be immediate. They should not be allowed to go to a phone either.

I miss the days of players complaining to the umpires about a bad call. Now if someone is caught stealing 2B, the player points to the dugout immediately instead. Seems baby-ish.

... which sounds kind of weird, because complaining would technically be the babier action.
