Re: MLB Off-Topic

It's odd to me because I always thought their justification for not wearing bright cleats and having bat designs was because it's distracting, I guess for one weekend that doesn't matter anymore? I don't really hate it, just think it's weird. The nickname thing is irrelevant to me for obvious reasons.

I agree, this isn't something i'm 100% in love with but for a weekend I guess I can live with it. It would be nice if the nickname jerseys go on sale and proceeds can go to charity.

Re: MLB Off-Topic

kind of a curious question.

has there ever been a pitcher that has had different deliveries? what i mean is, say for example, if there is a pitcher that has had a side arm delivery but then when he wants can say throw over the top and totally fool a batter with the delivery?

Re: MLB Off-Topic

I'd never want a nickname instead of my last name on my jersey.

The other stuff just doesn't matter.

But now MLB can hang this over the PA's heads at next negotiations.

MLB is one of the more natural individualistic games out there. The way you wear your hat, your stance, your windup, etc. They really needed neon cleats and nicknames on their backs too? Waste of a concession.

Perfect timing as I'll be on vacation during that time period. lol

I'll have to say I don't really get it...aren't there worthwhile concessions the MLBPA could've gotten from MLB instead of this?

Many. As Yankees fan I watched El Duque and David Cone do this.

I think Dempster does this. There's more that are escaping me.

Re: MLB Off-Topic

There won't be different colored bats. It wasn't approved.

And the league won't allow colors that are distracting.

All you're going to see is guys wear different colored gear that isn't team specific. It's nothing.

The headline makes it seem like a block party that got out of hand.

Re: MLB Off-Topic

I think Luis Tiant is the historic example people would point to. It's rare but not unheard of.
