Re: 5/3 - 5/16 Game Discussion Thread

Acuna very nearly hit on pitch 1. Does get hit on pitch 2 in nearly the exact same location. Hard to believe that it was intentional in that situation, but that's still pretty odd to happen after that reliever had easy command through his first 1.2 IP. Edit - Though Acuna did homer off of him last time the 2 faced each other.

Braves GM is really putting the team in a tough position with the shallow bench that they have been running with all year. Only 3 position players on the bench to start today, and 1 is the backup catcher.

Re: 5/3 - 5/16 Game Discussion Thread

Jays up 5-0

Astros slowly make it 5-4

Semien with a 3 run HR and now its 8-4!

Now for the interesting stat cast I never knew existed. It can determine if a HR would've been a HR in other ballparks.

Turns out the Semien HR would've been a HR in a total of 1/30 ballparks. The ballpark he hit it in (Minute Maid Park).

I wonder how a stat like that could help a teams analytic department. Using various algorithms to see every players "real HR total" based on the percentage that would've been a HR in every ballpark, and even doing it for select ballpark dimensions (such as if you're looking for a guy from the NL who you want to see how he'd likely hit in an AL East ballpark).

X-rays negative for Acuña. He’s day-to-day.

Funny moment during Jays/Astros game.

Cavan Biggio hits a HR.

Camera pans to the crowd where his mom and dad are watching.

His mom of course is excited.

His dad Craig is sitting there with a "That's my boy....but my job (with the Astros) comes first" look

Dansby going to walk us off again, isn’t he?

Edit: Not even giving him the chance.

This is the first time that I've watched an extra inning since the new rule was implemented, and I have 2 takeaways.

The Braves offense sucks.
The really is the dumbest rule.
