Tough to choose just five:

1-Kevin Garnett: From around my hometown plus I just always admired his loyalty to the Timberwolves and passion for the game of basketball. He's one of those players that will bring it every night that he is able to (hence the name Big Ticket) and just loves to win.

2-Alonzo Mourning: One of my favorite players from the Hornet days. He just always had a workmanlike quality about him. Very focused and goal oriented in addition to continuing to do outstanding charity work in Charlotte almost 15 years after he left the Hornets.

3-Gerald Wallace: See the two above. Just gives it his all every night. Excellent defender as well.

4-Michael Jordan: No brainer.

5-Allen Iverson: I didn't agree with everything he did or said, but imo, he had a tremendous passion for the game as well and always strived to put give fans his all night in and night out. I just wish he was more of a "winner".

Re: Who are your top five favorite basketball players of all time

I can give you two but Id have to think about the rest.

First off, Jordan has #1 locked down for me.

But also in the top 5 somewhere is Dennis Rodman. That guy made himself a success in the league possibly the hardest way possible. First of all, Rodman didnt even enter the league until he was 25. So he has some lost years between HS and entering the league. Secondly, here is a guy who made himself a great player by focusing on the dirty work and became so good at it that he's probably the best rebounder in the history of the league. Rodman was so good at what he did, I would put him in my top 20 all time even though Rodman could not care less about scoring.

Also in my top 5 would have to be Bird and Magic. The rivalry they gave us in the 80s was a lot of fun to watch and it was a real rivalry. I also like them because they were unique players. When you look at players since, its hard to come up with someone you would compare them to.

And lastly, Im going with Scottie Pippen. Yes I have the core of the second Bulls three-peat. I just like what Scottie brought to the table. Scottie was a great compliment to Jordan. I think it would be hard for a lot of guys to carve out a niche playing alongside Jordan. A lot of stars are stars because they score. But in Scotties case, he had to accept taking a backseat to Jordan from the beginning and also take the challenge of matching Jordan's intensity every day in practice. By being submissive in this way, he allowed Jordan to turn him into one of the best perimeter defenders the league has every seen. But not a lot of guys would have taken up the challenge of bringing it every day in practice. Plus there are the lasting memories like, "the mailman doesnt deliver on Sunday" and also dunking on Ewing.
