Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread

I was always skeptical of the fit there, especially with D’Antoni their relationship, but I at least thought CP could get thru to him to at least adjust his game for the betterment of his own career.

But if his BFF can’t do it then damn.

It's kind of like iso Joe career path. They haven't been playing defense. And I don't know if it's his fault. Losing Ariza and Luc.

But this one is on Melo. He still plays like he was in HS.

I don't see how anyone can pick him up.

We?

Look man, when it came time to play on a contender or help build one this man went for the money.

Contract extensions, possible free agency, extra years and picking his own team....

Money Melo always went for the bag

He got exactly what he wanted out of his career

And basically said winning multiple Olympic golds was as good as winning a ring.
At the point of his career, I don't know what options he has. His game doesn't fit the modern NBA. That high volume, ball stopping, iso/hero-ball doesn't fit anymore especially when you're not the first option.

He could make an excellent stretch 4 or he should. He's strong, not undersized, and has the ability to rebound, knock down shots from mid range and he's athletic enough.

His mind won't let him figure out other games ways to play. No passing for the assist, no pounding the boards, no pressuring the opposition on defense, he only sets screens to pop and shoot, and really completely ignores the game off the ball.

You never see him back door anybody, he's not bullying smaller players in the paint.. and he exhausted the fake workouts videos in one summer.

Now with all that said he's not the reason Houston is flipping. We called that before the season for other factors but what he's not doing is showing his value to other teams in those other areas....

He's not even showing a willingness to make adjustments.

Like, once I saw Boban Marjonavich run a full court fast break I knew the game changed for real....why he is being stubborn about it... I don't know because he has his money already.

Losing Ariza and Luc was huge for them. You can't expect to lose your perimeter defense and replacing it with Melo is going to help them. Offense isn't their issue. Having 3 non-defenders on the wing for extended periods is always a recipe for diaster.

As for Melo, yes Money has been his priority over winning. He got his money and Olympic rings so he is good. And pretty much a shoe-in for HoF since everyone pretty much makes it in
