Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread

I'm really surprised by this honestly, especially after Smith said that he needs/wants to get better at playing off the ball. As much as the Luka hype gets, they are one of the worst teams in the league still. Making a trade isn't going to all the sudden make them some team with playoff hopes in the West. Luka might realistically already be their best player and statistically he ranks out as a slightly above average player league wide.

To me it just seems like letting both of these guys grow/learn how to play off each other with and without the ball makes the most sense at this point. Giving up on Smith this early into that process just feels like a mistake to me.

I've mentioned this before, but if not for Ben Simmons still being a rookie Smith would have been first team guard last year. There is no indication that with the same opportunities he couldn't be blowing up teams like Fox is this year. I understand he doesn't have a great outside shot but it's already improving.

I think this must have to be a he and Carlisle not seeing eye-to-eye thing. Otherwise it doesn't make any sense to me. The writing isn't even on the wall yet that a player with his athletic ability couldn't end up a better player than even Doncic does.. Just seems like a really premature move to me.

Yogi Ferrell for Jeremy Lin trade rumors

The Kings would only have to send out 2.7 million in salary and Hawks would gain a extra 6.5 million in cap space.

Per The Athletic:

Quote:
According to two sources with knowledge of Anthony’s situation, the exiled 10-time All-Star who remains on the Houston Rockets roster has multiple options available and is expected to pick one before the Feb. 7 trade deadline. There is no clarity as to whether he would be traded in these scenarios or waived and subsequently signed, but there are strong signs that he will play in the NBA again.

He’s not a star player but can play and is still fairly young. Has a HUGE contract though for 1 more season.
