Internet "rumors" however you want to read into that claim that's his top choice.. And was the only reason I included them.

That and between Toppin, Barrett, Quickley, Robinson, Frank, and picks they have lots of assets to keep Portland competitive during a rebuild without having to go full tank mode.

I would assume it's at least slightly more likely now.. I'm sure Dame believes if the Knicks are a 4 seed starting Payton they'll be a top team in the East starting him. And Dame + Randle on the Knicks makes them attractive for free agents... Finally.

True. It's better than the Melo situation at least and we won't completely empty the cupboard. I have no delusions about the FO wanting to compete for a championship immediately. They're going to swing for the fences as soon as possible.

I guess Dame + Randle + enough cap space for a 3rd guy is the selling point.

I feel like Chicago would have a chance if they could get a 3rd team involved. Collin Sexton going to Portland for example.

You'd have to sign and trade Lauri probably, but something like Sexton, Lauri, Satoransky, Nance and 2-3 firsts going to Portland maybe? You'd probably have to trade Williams and White to the Cavs.

Bulls: Dame, Zach, ?, Young, Vuc
Blazers: Sexton, CJ, Powell, Covington, Nance
Cavs: Garland, White, Okoro, Williams, Allen

Really great young core for Cleveland there.
